I am thinking about buying a s6240 but haven't made up my mind cuz there are not much user reviews out there. How's the heat and noise of s6240 compare with s6231 or s2110? A quiet laptop is important to me, I can overlook the performance a little bit.

Without experience I can tell you that the S6231 will be the coolest, because of its lower power consuming CPU. But I am not sure how they would all compare!
The CPU in the new S6240 consumes 7 more watts than the older S6231, when at full speed, so you would expect it to run a tad hotter and the fan to be on more often.
If you check the reviews on this site you will find one that compares the S6231 to the S2110 ... review done by nesbo! -
Personally would go with the s2110 just cause it is different.

It will by default only go to max speed when needed (as was the case with the old one). But still, under lowest speed it still consumes more power when compared to the older P-M under lowest speed. In other words there has been an increase in power consumption all across the speed spectrum that the old and new P-M go thru.
So the fan will run more often, but not all the time. -
I don't mind the fan run more often but I am more concern about the noise coming out from the fan.
Can I replace the fan to a quieter one (e.g. another brand) if it happens to be noisy? I did replace the fan of my desktop before but I don't know whether it can be done w/ laptop. -
notebook fans vary by manuf and model, and it is usually hard to find one that is exactly the same (physically) and would fit. There is no standard. So I wouldn't hope much for a replacement. That said, Fujitsu's S6000 series have always had quiet fans in the past (no rattling and buzzing) and I don't think that has changed. Most often the fan will only spin at low RPM. So the noise level won't be significantly diff, between the old and new S6000 series. But I cannot be sure for heat generation, since I haven't tested either extensively!
s6240, s6231, s2110? which one to buy?
