I am wanting to replace m s7010d's screen with something else as I cannot stand it as of currently. The screen has very uneven lighting everywhere and the screen looks dirty all the time. The viewing angles are horrible and I can't even watch a movie as all the blacks and darker colors have that negative look, similar to how older lcds looked when viewed at bad angles. This is dead on by the way and I'm perfectly perpendicular to the screen.

My question is, how is matte screen like? I've never seen it so I can't actually compare. Glossy doesn't matter anymore to me. Is it bright enough and is the picture clean and consistent like how normal lcds look like? What about the viewing angles? I need decent viewing angles.

The matte is good, but you can't just swap out the display. You're better off returning the one you have if you can.

Yeah I know lcds are definitely not a user replaceable part. I am going to ship it back to fujitsu and see if I can upgrade it to the matte. Can you be more elaborate besides saying the matte screen is "good"? People said the CV screen was "good" and it turns out to be the worse screen I have ever seen.

My wife has the S7020 with the glare screen and it's pretty nice. Not at all how you describe it. Viewing angles are very good and she says her eye strain is much less than from a regular screen. You can't really take it outdors cause of the glare, but she never does that anyway.

I am guessing your screen is just messed up.

You should go to your local electronics store and look at some of each.

The impression I get is that 1/2 the people w/ s7020 get a good screen and half get a bum one. Problem seems limited to this model. I don't read about owners of other series complaining about screens- just s7020. See if you can return yours and get a better one.

Shipped it to portableone, or T3 which I am guessing is their repair center branch. Hope fthey will replace it with a better one. If they can this will be the best laptop yet that I have had. Sadly something always goes wrong. Not having a laptop in college is a real pain and the total amount of time I've spent without one totaled up to a month with my various send-ins and sell-outs. Cross my fingers this will be the last time.

Really my screen is screwed. All dark colors have no contrast. Its one solid black thing and whats worse is the color is negative, and when I mean negative I mean go find a really old lcd screen and get off-center. This is dead on in the middle though. Man I hate life.
