After flirting with sony's, averatec, asus etc. I'm back to the S-series fujitsu though I have never seen one. I'm having a difficult time deciding between the s7010 and the s6231. I like things about both. The s6231 is smaller and lighter which I need but the s7010 has bluetooth and the finger sensor which I don't need but for some reason really want. I also use SD cards in my camera but I never have found a reason not to download via the USB cable.

My primary use for the notebook will be for law school and the occasional multimedia editting. Size, weight, battery life, keyboard, and low heat are the highest priorities. I consider the screen and price to be a wash. I plan to install a 7k60 if it matters.

So questions are: 1) those of you who have decided between the s7010 and s6231 what was the reason? 2) any reason to wait for sonoma versions? I think the extra heat and less battery turns me off from the option of getting a finger scanner or sd slot respectively.

    1) Many bought the s6 before the S7 started coming in CV. The rest buy the S6 because it's a little smaller/lighter.
    2) No, so far there's only be a little improvement in performance and sometimes a big hit in battery.

I chose the S7011 over the S6000series, beacuse, for almost the same price, you get a bigger screen. As the wieght.. almost identical. Also you get the fingerprint scanner.
The S6000 asia pacific verstion doesn't have a card reader or S-video out. But the S7011 has, that's another reason,

Another one is, the wireless switch on the S6000 series is behind, very non-ergonomic, on the S7011 it's front.

    That's about it i think..

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S7011 - *1.6mHZ*, *512MB DDR 333*, *Hitachi Travelstar 60G 7200RPM*, *Toshiba CDRW Combo Drive*, *14.1' SuperFine*, *Fingerprint Scanner*, *Intel Pro 2200 B/G*, *Logitec Black Optical Mouse*

Initially excited about bluetooth hoping I could use my wireless carrier to provide internet access when wifi is unavailable, it has been too slow and/or too expensive. I have a bluetooth usb adapter, but haven't installed it yet on my S6231. I may ebay it if I ever get around to setting up an account.

One person had problem with the fingerprint reader providing webside password access using Firefox or Opera. I think Brian said it only works with MSIE. That's a consideration.

The S7000 series does have a real port replicator, but using a USB hub is functionable enough.

Whichever you get, I'd advise against getting intel wireless because of the difficulty many have with connection drops. Get the atheros option.
