    tax on laptop from US?

    I'm considering one lifebook from PortableOne, but I live in Vancouver. I'm not sure how much tax I should pay if I buy this laptop. Does anyone know that? How much does PortableOne charge for their shipping?

    Not sure what duty your government may charge at the border. For me in Texas ordering from P1 in California, I paid ZERO taxes and ZERO shipping which I thought was a good deal.

    If I bought the computer in Texas I would have paid $170.20 in taxes.
    And the shipping: $14.12 fedex 2day was on the internet order, but removed from the final Sales Receipt. Thanks PortableOne!!!

    at the very least you will be taxed GST PST and $5.

    Since they ship FedEx, you should select the express shipping. DOn't cheap out because the premium amount covers brokerage fees.

    I looked into this question before, and I was a little hazy on the rules and you may or may not be charged an extra 10%.

    I believe the shipping cost was $80 (maybe $50) to have brokerage fees covered.

    Is there a reason why you don't want to buy from a local store?

    yeah there is about a 2 - 6 onth lag from the US getting it to us getting it. Plus there is the added bonues that we usually only get a choice of 2 - 3 preset models with no option of customization.

    I was also considering buying from portableone because the US model of the S7000 series has the option of the trackpoint which the canadian model doesn't have. I even emailed fujitsu canada to make sure and they said they don't have it and wont be putting it in anytime in the near future.
    Was wondering if i could just order the keyboard with the trackpoint and install it myself.

    wow no tax drw? i ordered myself the new N6210 last night off P1 and i got charged tax, $159.97 [ :(][B)]. I live in CA, so i dont know, maybe they charged tax because its the newest model. I did get free shipping though.
