I have a Fujitsu N series notebook (3510). At startup it check the memory, identifies the drives then gives me the following error message:

Fan Error, System is turned off
    Thermal error, syste0>2s t<<BAP>>

and the system stops at that point. I changed the fan and got the same message. Any ideas?

can you tell if the fan is spinning? perhaps the power line going to the fans is corrupt, so even though your fan is fine, it's not working b/c it has no power.

I did check the fan and it was spinning. My thought was to reset the cmos settings by removing the battery.

It is an older computer and out of warranty - it would be a trip to an authorized repair and possible motherboard replacement. It begins to look like this is parts and an new computer is in the future.
