    LAN/56k Modem
    802.11g Wi-Fi
    3 in 1 Card Reader (MMC/SD/MS)
    15.4" WXGA
    128MB ATI Mobility™ RADEON™ 9600
    Windows XP Home
    3 hour battery life

    £ 1026.35

all of them come with a free software bundle including Microsoft Word 2003, Microsoft Works 7, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, Microsoft Money 2003 std, Microsoft Encarta 2003 std, Microsoft Picture It! 7.0, Microsoft Autoroute 2003, Microsoft Works Clipart, Adobe Photoshop Elements.

ill be using the laptop mainly for university work (using programs such as dreamweaver, flash, photoshop etc), but ill also be using it for watching dvds, the internet, emailing family and friends back home, playing games. ill also be using it on the move so portability is an issue, about 2 hours battery life would be good but i could settle for the 1.5 hours of the Amilo A 1630B. my budget is about the same price as they are (£1000-£1050) so if you wanna suggest another laptop then keep that in mind.

    so what do you suggest?

I say go with the Amilo M 1420A just the fact it is a Pentium M processor, saves power, performance is up to par with with the P4 and Athlon 64, and larger cache usually helps too.
