    hi

    i bought this laptop for a couple of moths ago and it worked really good until it started to get hotter for every day while gaming. now the temperature is in idle 55-60 and in gaming about 75-85 and at the end it starts lagging and i can see artifacts in battlefield 2 for an example after 10 minutes of gaming and sometimes it freezes. i tried every update for the bios and graphic but it only seems to get worse . these temperatures are when i use NHC with dynamic stwitching mode.

    i also had the bad luck that i bought this computer from another person and he claimed that the warranty was valid. but it doesent help me since i dont have the original receipt with the date when the computer was bought.

    does anyone have any suggestion what i can do to make it better and cooler? every answer is appreciated. tx

    I have an x1546 too. It has the same problems as you've described and I've sent in for repair (it's still under warranty thankfully).

    edit: Are you sure the original receipt is necessary? Have you called customer service?

    I think this has something to do with the standard thermal paste Fujitsu Siemens is using. Quite a few people have had problems, and I also remeber some Alienware M5750/M5790 users who also had overheating problems, since they use the same chassis as the Xi range.

    It could also be the poor cooling design, however, alot of users have been using their ntoebooks under quite alot of load, and have not experienced any problems. It will be interesting to see what Fujitsu Siemens says the problem is, if they say that is.

    It's may be silly to ask such a question here, but I don't have time on my hands to call customer service or read the warranty... If anyone knows more than me about how easily the warranty is voided , I'd like to ask if I would void my warranty if I swapped the default thermal paste with arctic silver 5 or arctic silver ceramique, because I suspect that it's the thermal paste that is the reason for the nasty temperatures that some of us xi154x owners tend to experience quite a lot...

    Yes, I've tried using compressed air to clear away any dust inside the chassi and I've also bought a 17" notebook cooler but I still get system lock-ups when the CPU temp reaches about 70 C (which is actually a very normal temp). I don't know when I'll get it back, probably in two weeks

    @woona
    Yes, it will fit and it is propably the best one for the Xi 1546. The second best is propably the Akasa 17" notebook coolers.

    Be aware, that changing the thermal inteface on the notebook will void the warranty. Its so close to the processor, that I doubt Fujitsu Siemens would allow it. You may, however, be able to get Fujitsu Siemens to allow you to change the thermal paste, as they are a pretty lenient company, in that regard. They allow you to change quite a lot of things on this notebook, and they don't have any "Warranty Void if Removed" stickers anywhere.
