    Hi,

I've had my 5920G for a year now and thought I wanted to boost the performance a little.

At first I had major heat problems, GPU to 97 degrees and CPU to 92. I was able to get this down to 88 got the GPU and 70 for the CPU.

NOTE: All 3dmark06 tests were done with a non-registered version, at a resolution of 1200x800.

NOW! Lets see how my system scores at the default settings:

around 4 k score.. not too good :/

AND now overclocked settings and maximized performance:

    TEST 1:

    TEST 2:

    System specs:

    Win. Vista 32 bit
4 gig ram, bottlenecked by the 32 bit -> 3 gig ram.
    T7500 @ 2.2 ghz
    9500M GS
    320 HDD @ 5400 rpm

How do i cool? I applied I.C. Diamond paste, bought a NZXT laptop cooler (full alluminium, 3 fans) which works great, undervolting my cpu: Less heat for the heatsink, and so my gpu can release more heat.

I got 45XX with my overclocked N GF 9500M GS.
But I hate DDR2 GPU, can't play game in high resolution due to the memory clock is d@mn low.

yeah i know, the ddr3 version has a factory clock of 700 :/

Anyway, I added my max results

WAO! Impressive. I don't dare to overclock so much, especially on the memory clock. Memory clock have no temperature sensor, we don't know how much its actually heated up. I tried 500Mhz memory clock as you do. It really bump to 5XXX score. LOL.

I'm still curious how your machine managed 4K at stock speeds, while mine (with a faster CPU!) only got 3600 or so at stock.

his resolution for the tests are at 1280x800, and if were done at 1280x1024 would be lower/more normal. But that is indeed a very nice overclock.

Tehsuigi, the CPU score is not too noticable. But his GPU really overclock like crazy. Anyway, have you tried 500Mhz of memory clock? It is awesome to see your 3Dmark06 score hit 5XXX. 625/500/1450 I tried before, can hit 5XXX.

Tried and failed, DarkSilver. My system isn't stable at that memory speed. And I'm taking about stock speeds anyway.
Narsnail, I ran 3DMark06 at 1366x768 - equivalent to 1280x800, more or less.

I get your point but CPU didn't help much in a 3Dmark06 test.
Memory Clock is the KEY of the score for 3Dmark06.
However, getting 4k at stock clock is really high. I only can get almost 4k(3XXX).

The horizontal resolutions lines are more taxing, so that extra 224 horizontal lines do make a much bigger difference than the vertical ones. Running at 1440x900 is almost equal to 1280x1024.

Aaaand that's what you get for running your system with a 25% overclock.
    What happened?

OMG! This really do scare me now. Have you confirmed your GPU burnt?
I read your 1st post in this topic again. I found that even without overclock, you have a high temperature on your CPU and GPU.
Most likely, overclock increased your GPU temperature harshly and killed your GPU.
Tehsuigi, any clues of this? Shall we lower down our overclock too?
I am not sure about the memory part temperature since there is no sensor there.
The core clock seems fine with 72C as max temperature in a normal room temperature(24-28C).

DarkSilver, he said his video memory went, not the core.
And that's likely because he clocked his at a relatively-nutters 500 MHz - 450-460 MHz like ours should be safer.
But that's always an inherent risk when pushing components beyond their specified limits.
It's also why I set up my profiles in the Nvidia Control Panel to only overclock when a game, benchmark, or Badaboom is open, and return to normal when they close.

WAO! How you do that? Sound interesting.
which mean it would revert back to stock clocks while running normal stuffs.
Then would overclock itself while running games kind of stuffs?
    THIS IS AWESOME!

How long did you have your memory at 500MHz? I ran mine overnight on ATITool and have had it for a few weeks now.

It's simple, DarkSilver. Go to the Profile Policies page of your Nvidia Control Panel (install Nvidia System Tools first, if you haven't already). Click the tick beside "Load this Profile" to have it appear in the box on the middle-right, then click the blue text to tell it which profile you want it to load (this assumes that you've saved your overclock as an Nvidia profile). Then, on the box to the middle-left, pick "Application is started" or "Application is stopped," and click the blue text to define which program you want to activate the profile change. Using the OR button, you can toss in as many triggers as you want. Once you hit Accept, the rule goes to the bottom window - tick the box to activate the rule, untick to deactivate it.
I made two rules - one to load my overclocked profile when the applications are loaded, and another to load my default (stock clock) profile when the applications are closed.

I've used my max overclock to game for a few hours, then the game started to pause and return for a few times, then my screen went blank and i had to hard-reboot.

I've lowered my clocks now, things seems fine, but i do get some artifacts when idle in os.. not alot, so its fine with me..

I can still game so yeah ..

I think OP has an BAD GPU temperature even OP doesn't overclock.
It is 88C(no overclock). While we only get about 66-70C if we don't overclock.
I assumed the overclock does raise the GPU more than 90C and burnt some parts. That's why some parts of the GPU is malfunction and caused artifacts now. I guess the memory part have the major defection since OP overclocked it 100Mhz.

    Understandable, ya loon. ;)
By the way, were you always running at OC speeds, or did you set up profiles to tune down the clocks when not needed?

I only overclock to the absolute max when i'm doing benchmarks. otherwise, for just regular gaming, i'll do a 15-25% oc on the core and shader and a 5% on the memory.

I also downcklocked the idle clocks to the minimum and got from 60°c idle to 55°c.

Also now I'm running a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 which seems to be faster. I'll do some benchmarks whenever i get 3dmark to work lol :/
