Sweet pics!!! I was just playing a game of dota as Witch Doctor that lasted 1 hour and 20 min :_p
After a lot of grueling counter pushing we managed to outplay the enemy for the throne.
Back to Dota 2, I like the Interface. Good to keep things simple! I also like the look of the heroes. Different but keeping the same theme/feel of the hero.
Andros approves!! -
And here it is...
Come Gamescom! Show us a lil bit'o'gameplay with some havok goodness on this new baby of yours...

epic system requirements. glad my 13.3inch laptop can run it. i sincerely hope it its not f2p.
-
Why looking it to be not F2P? How can they dominate LoL and HON if it's P2P?
In my side, I'm okay to buy the game as a cd and then F2P the rest (same as GW2).. -
games dont need to be f2p to be compete. sc2 is a fine example of that.
i cant banlist feeders/leavers if they just make a new free account. and hopefully they make separate servers for different regions. and if you are a dota/hon/lol players you know how lame it is to get stuck on a team with a bunch of brs. -
Well SC2 is not actually a pure P2P, since once you have the CD, then there is no need to worry into spending out some cash again. If that's the case then I'm okay with that approach!
Regarding your concern, well if your playing solo, it's actually unavoidable although in HoN some players requiring high PSR player ratings for their game (This is to avoid newbie/secondary account etc.). Well I think Dota 2 has a system whereas you can join a game that is already in progress, or you can add bots during in game if someone leaves. Forgot the link where I've seen it though heheh
EDIT: There you go, here's the link: http://dota2talk.com/news/(official)-dota-2-qa/
Also just a quick update, when you go to their website dota2.com. Beta registration is already available!
-
register for the beta already
hon was good before 2.0 when people actually hosts high rated pub games 1800+ and real good players actually played in them. alot of good players stopped playing after 2.0 and it got kinda lame playing matchmaking with a bunch of noobs (im 1965 in matchmaking)
i like the whole 60dollar game deal and not having to pay for additional garbage rather than you have to pay to unlock additonal characters bs. -
I you don't have to pay for additional characters in LoL, only skins which in no way affect the gameplay.
to be honest, i find LoL's buisness model very strong, and doubt that dota2 will be able to compete if it follows the standard 60$ price, especially at this point considering how popular LoL is. There is a sort of snow ball effect that after a certain point, it really is hard to stop. -
to me lol is not very fun because of the gameplay (slow paced) and mechanic (not being able to deny) and not to mention the lag thats almost as bad as wc3 battlenet
and it looks like dota 2 is basically an exact copy of dota with a bunch of improvements and matchmaking etc. so hardcore dota fans will definiatly switch over from whatever game they are playing atm (hon lol or dota) -
I would rather pay $60 once, but I would not pay $60 for one or two maps and a bunch of boring characters.
-
Yeah I'm a previous Dota then switched to HoN player (due to graphics that's why I switched hehe) but Dota 2 is around and certainly I'll be going back to the King!!
By the way guys, if you are curious on gameplay footage, you can view live streaming of the international tournament at their site (dota2.com).
-
Gameplay looks pretty similar to WC3 DotA. I'm really excited.
-
i started playing hon because my friend got my tda account banned lol. dota 2 is looking good hopefully the beta comes out soon

Best game of dota I've ever seen. Na'vi is flawless.
EDIT: watch it on the dota2 page and you get commentary.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
You serious? LoL and Hon will literally die once Dota 2 gets released. There's absolutely no questions. Hon's already free -- the end is near for them. Get what they can.
Also, EHOME taking it, despite Na'vi's stellar play. They're simply more flexible and more adaptive -- crazy asians. -
if you like games like those you should just go watch pro teams pubstomp. thats all that game was. scythe played terribly and got stomped on.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015
-
I just felt that Na'vi played excellently.
-
dont get me wrong navi played well and will probably win the tourny, but that match scythe just went super amateur mode. 0 lane control terrible decisions by its players and got picked apart by a nightstalker... that was probably the most 1 sided game in the whole tournament.
-
I don't think that's true. Game 2 was a lot more exciting.
-
graphics look spectacular, im building a ultra low buget pc (180 bucks) to play this game lol... well, this diablo 3, guild wars 2 and the old republic.
-
Agreed. I wish the final games were up to see... I was rooting for Na'vi the whole time, nice to see them take the gold.
-
Love the DOTA attitude. Not only is it present in any DOTA like game but it's present on even forums unrelated to DOTA specifically but appearing whenever it's discussed.
Looks to me DOTA 2 will be no different in terms of gamers attitudes already. -
Not really... I think LoL will survive a bit longer as they released a new map, Dominion (which reminds me of spawn points in TF2). Plus LoL is relatively easier than DotA, I was horrible in DotA and am currently decent in LoL.
-
Look cool but I still think League of Legend is the best.
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
I am gonna pick this up when it releases, but I will also still play LoL.
-
Same. I'll be playing both, but I expect more competitive play in DotA2. LoL's competitive scene is bleh.
-
All I have to say is... TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT!!!
Might even have to drop my LoL for this i'll see how it goes =D -
Dota 2 won IGN's People's Choice Award..
Source: IGN People's Choice Award: And The Winner Is... - PC News at IGN -
come on beta, im bored of hon.
-
I've played DOTA...though was never a HUGE fan..enjoyed other Custom WC3 games, ie LTW etc
DOTA/DOTA 2 just look like a kite fest.. -
only cuz youre bad
-
Huh? Kite fest? better watch those replays again dude.
For me aside from Monster Hunter, Dota is one of the games which requires skills and and huge amount of experience if your playing competitively to create teamplays/strategy in order to win..
Maybe your saying that is because your playing in pub games perhaps? (No offense). -
Agreed. DotA requires lots of skills. It's much harder to play than League of Legends, sadly.
-
What game is Dota 2 played on? its not WC3 is it?
-
It is it's own game this time. Standalone.
-
ooOOOoo i might play it
-
Its on the source engine. Its going to be awesome!
-
Anyone know if there will be a skills tree, like in LOL?
-
No, it won't.
No levels or masteries or runes, I believe.
Just plain old choose a champ and let's get it on. -
this
skilltrees are pointless because people use the same ones anyways. -
Yep. Basically just a DotA clone with updated graphics and smoother gameplay.
-
I wouldn't really say it's a DotA clone... more like... DotA 2.0, which is what it is. o_o
-
I call it a clone because there are the same heroes and same items, not much has changed except for the engine it runs on. So DotA 2.0 works too, it's like CS:S but Dota: Source.
