yeah ive seen that rumour as well. thus far, GTC has only been known for professional applications and hardware, so a presentation of a gaming series seems unlikely... still, looking forward to whats coming next :)

Yeah Tweaktown is quoting their own article from November. They claim now the rumor is more solid.

IMG_20180301_095753.jpg Well, this is something smart by nvidia, Turing, is named after Alan Turing, mathematician and a well know "crypto grapher and analyst".

This could possibly meant that, to save the price hike in gpus for sake of non miners, nvidia maybe relasing these turing cards specially for MINING. Dont you think this would be great for all of us?

Also, there are small rumours of nvidia announcing that the mobile gpus, will be manufactured BY nvidia, forr all laptops (meaning a comman mxm gpu layout for all!! This should reduce the price of mxm gpus right @Mr. Fox and @Papusan . Not only this would profit us, but nvidia too! )

Although there arent any news fpr the thing i am most interested about, shader model 6.0

If any of these is true, we all are going to be happy as F!

Nice way to separete the cards. This way can we easly put the blame on nvidia if prices increase.

We won’t see the new GeForce GTX 2080 flagship available for the standard MSRP of $699 at launch – prices at or upwards of $1000 are to be expected
"The argument makes logical sense of course, and a price point of $999 would probably not be out of the question for the highest end flagship. It remains to be seen whether there’s any truth to this statement. If NVIDIA is actually planning to raise their MSRP then we are actually doing them a big favor by tempering the public narrative before hand – since they will face less PR backlash this way."

Well, yeah, if they seprate the cards, its not only beneficial to us, but for them in 2 ways
    1. They wont face criticism as they're facing it right now
    2. They'll earn more, not only catering miners but also to gamers( you know, many haven't bought pascal because of these price hikes).

Now im eager to know wht the safe liner red team has to offer.

if these two postulated developments would be beneficial to us is dependant on several factors...

    1) lets say nvidia really does introduce special mining cards: they would have to be way more performant in mining than regular gaming cards / mining would have to be blocked on regular gaming cards i.e. via driver or firmware / gaming performance would have to suck on mining cards to properly separate the two lines (as with quadros) / mining cards would have to be priced similarly as gaming cards

now those are a LOT of conditions to be fulfilled if you ask me. if theyre not, miners will likely continue buying gaming cards and tuning them to be as performant as their mining counterparts, which leaves us exactly where we started off...

    2) Nvidia producing all mobile gaming cards: seriously?!?! that is absolutely TERRIBLE NEWS!!!

please think hard about this: do you REALLY think nvidia is going to produce more than one single standard for mobile gpus? i mean, why bother, right? alright then, so which standard form factor would be the most likely, given the current mobile trends? take a wild guess.... BGA!!!

so yeah, in that case we wont have manufacturers like clevo, MSI, Zotac, Aetina, Gecube, etc. anymore that go out of their way to continue providing us highend mobile users with swappable MXM form factor gpus anymore. instead, we would all be forced to go BGA. yeah right, "happy AF"....NOT!

as if Nvidia taking a step like this would mean ANYTHING other than taking even more control away from us and shoving a 20 inch dildo up our a$$es

If Nvidia introduce special mining cards they need to perform a lot better in mining or be very cheap vs. gaming cards. Or we are back to same mess as before. 'And I don't think Nvidia will lock out mining for gaming cards. They are like the Fox... More than one output ($$$) from the cave :D

    As a Notebook gamer I wouldn't hold my breath...just my 2C.

They are going to do something regarding the Desktop GPU mining problem...

Keep in mind that Nvidia will probably blur the press by "leaking" (intentionally or not) several reports that contradict each other.

Nvidia will release a new GPU architecture (either VOLTA inspired or a Pascal V2) this year because AMD is leapfrogging technologically speaking and because PASCAL is not really optimized for a big part of the current market : mining and advanced A.I.

Now, when should they release those GPUs ? That I don't know but I highly doubt that during the next major events Nvidia will stay silent. GDC - GTC - E3

Isnt that what nvidia has done for yeara? Let the red team play first and then squash them after their turn.

TweakTown is a pure $hit website.
The website owner went on the techpowerup forums to talk about on one of its members. The owner wanted to know why he had a ad blocker then decided to ridicule him on his decision.
