It's good to see you Dox :) pretty honored to have you in my thread.
I hope you don't mind if I linked your site in OP.
I understand what you say - however I just want to point out that this method, which is being used since the dawn of time - proved to be a solution where the one you described didn't helped at all.
Those components that sits doing nothing can or can't be a source of issues, each Os reacts differently by how the user uses or configured it.
This is just an alternate method that everyone knows. To be used just in case the default methods fails.
Lately with 7970m and drivers some issues happened when just uninstalling using stock drivers setup.
DS method proved to fix this.
But also as I said its a matter of how the end user does these things.
Enough to say that most problems are users fault.

Those have been my experiences as well, and driver installation with Win 7's WDM it's not necessary unless there's lots of fussing with the driver files themselves.

I know, as I explained there's so much configurations out there that you don't know which kind of problems you will face. Also it really depends on how the end user uses his Os or configure it.
I will advice to stick to this guide if you have any sort of problem like instability of weird things happening after a new driver upgrade.

What program is being used to see your GPU utilization during gameplay? Or is that just the BF3 overlay?

    Hi,
I followed your detailed instructions, reached and completed item 6, but can't continue. NVIDIA SETUP doesn't exist.
I checked information on my display driver, and the information isn't as clear as I would like it to be:

    1. NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1 is shown
    2. The properties of the driver get code 19, meaning Windows 7 can't run this device since it isn't complete, or it's defective.

    What's wrong?
