    Hello all,

As an avid gamer of the original Operation Flashpoint and more recently of Armed Assault I was wondering what were to views of NBR members on this upcoming game? Best features in your opinion? Spec's required to play it? Personally I think its going to great!!!

It looks like more like a simulation than an actual game, but I would still love to play it. I'm pretty sure my laptop can't handle it though

Originally OF was a spin off of Virtual Battlespace (I think it was called) and this was used to virtually train US marines on combat techniques. The current version of this VB2 is a monster of a simulation and I don't know if there's that many normal (= ultra high end gaming systems) using it. I think it was more for military application where the money was available for hugely expensive systems.

I look foward to it and Codemasters uses a modified engine of the Dirt/Grid engine for the game, couldn´t be better.

Our XPS M1730´s should run it great if SLI support is proper.

Yeah hopefully mutli-CPU and mutli-GPU, which would allow us to max out the game.

Apparently the AI is meant to be unreal intelligent and able to adapt to the tactics the player uses.... I guess no more picking off soldiers with a sniper rifle like in OP before they could engage you!

Hmm might have to buy me an x9000 CPU. AI can be heavy on the CPU, though the one I have is fast as it is.

72Hundred I will give the game a try and optimize when it gets released. Since Dirt/Grid can be optimized through a xml file I think Flashpoint 2 will do the same. Though I have no doubts with our 8800m GTX SLI we will have no trouble running the game maxed out 1920x1200 :)

I'll bet my money that there will never be more than 1,500 on-line in multiplayer! What will be the next great first person FPS MMO with vehicles? BF2 currently has the crown but that's getting old...

I'm looking forward to it. I don't know how many hours I spent wtih the original OF. I loved that game. Hard as hell, but once you learned to be patient, it was fun. Although some issues like enemies who could see you from a mile away in the dark got annoying.

OPF2 isn't aimed as being a MMO. Its a stimulator.

What's more likely is that there will be small, but highly dedicated, clans.

Just look at Project Reality mod for BF2. We're also somewhat a simulation game like OFP, but we are the most popular BF2 mod right now and have over 600-700 players online depending on the time frame. We've got lots of dedicated fans and clans with their support. I'm sure Operation Flashpoint 2 won't be another Armed Assault with its lack of large multiplayer community, because their case is quite different. OFP2 has a lot of potential to present itself to the public in a well manner with all the innovative features it promises to provide.

I tried PR and it was NOT fun to play.

    I hate FPS combat sims.

Will that's your opinion and it’s fine, but we have over 21,000 registered members who think otherwise.

Yeah I registered too, I don't think all those 21,000 play PR. I have never seen more than a couple of servers with people (playable number of ppl) them.

Check game-monitor we have at least 8 servers at the moment with 37 to 64 players online.
