I have a bit of a problem. I have my Laptop called "Jeri", my desktop comp called "Blacke" and a monitor called "monitor"...

Currently I have my monitor hooked up to Blacke and Jeri just chillin on here own. However, what I want is this:

To be able to switch between Jeri and Blacke with the same monitor. So I want to have a cable going to Jeri and to Blacke and have to ability to switch between the desktop and laptop at anytime.

I know they make adapters that offer this plus sound keybord and mouse.

    HOWEVER...

When I switch over to the laptop, Jeri, I would like to be able to have duel view on. That is having the laptop display and the monitor display both configured to jeri, but both independent. In other words have itunes up on one monitor and C&C 3 on the laptop monitor, but both running off of the laptop.

Sorry this got so long, but it is hard for me to explain.

Basically will one of those monitor switches allow me to do duel monitor vision?

    Thanks in advance

P.S sorry if I put this in the wrong forum, i didn't really know where to put it.

Well, any KVM should allow that. When the KVM is set to give the monitor to your desktop, it should still "fake" the monitor connection to the laptop...it will never know the difference.

Can I get a confirmation on this?

The original way I explained the situation is a little confusing. Let me rephrase:

I have a laptop and a desktop. The desktop is obviously hooked up to a monitor.

Can I hook the laptop and desktop up to a KVM switch and still be able to engage the duel monitor option on my laptop (to have the laptop screen and monitor linked)?

Thanks, I just want to make sure because KVM switches can be spendy.
