And if you have any modern-generation Intel chipset supporting DDR2 RAM, you have an ability called asymmetric dual-channel allowing you to run your RAM in dual channel even if you have two different sized sticks.

So definitely go for the 1.5GB.

What everyone else said, + Vista/Aero will eat half your RAM when you (eventually) get it.

Yep everyone is right here. I had the same question, but now I am sure 1.5 GB is better.

The RAM is only as fast as the slowest stick; for example, if you had 1GB of DDR2-533 and 1GB of DDR2-667, the latter stick would run at 533 to match the slower one.

And actually, depending on the speed combination, it may run a little bit slower than if you had 2 sticks at the slower speed! Cause somebody's gotta downclock the faster stick to the speed of the slower one... Don't ask me what would happen to your speed combination 'coz I don't remember that stuff that well, but it doesn't much matter - the difference is so small, it's practically unnoticeable. (Practically = literally, not = almost).

more ram, you dont know how many times I am one of the first 2 or 3 guys to get on bf2 server during map change, which allows me to be commander ahead of higher ranking players or grab the heli, jet or rv of my choice :)

When I heard about this whole dual channelling thing I freaked because I just ordered a 1 GB stick! So if I have a 1 GB stick and a 512 stick both at DDR2-667, I'm good to go?

I just installed a stick of Corsair 512mb pc4200 DDR2 into my Aspire 3102WLMi (already came with 512mb pc4200 and supports dual channel) and CPU-Z still shows it to be running single channel. Is there something I have to change in order to get Dual Channel mode?

    Thanks for any help
