Would help if you're not connected to mains, but then again, if you're gaming you really don't want to be disconnected from the mains now would you?

    >.> wow talk about a pointless answer.

Op: it should technically double your battery life.

I agree.....take whatever battery life you're getting from your 6-cell now and just double it (give or take some minutes I'd say...)

lol I was thinking the same thing. i had to reread the answer haha. I guess I will have to test how many hours I get with my normal battery and double it? Has anyone done this as I haven't bought any new games yet.?

Gaming eats up your battery life a lot. Plus it makes your laptop hot. I would not want to be playing Crysis with the notebook on my lap.

There's more to it, what game would you be playing? If you play old games or use some old console emulators you really shouldn't suffer much at all from gaming while on battery. More modern games will use more system resources and use more power. btw that battery looks huge, yet it's surprisingly cheap.

its only just over 1lb...small enough to carry in a backpack. I would be playing modern (COD5, Left4dead, Crysis etc)

Hmm, so you probably get somewhere in the 1-1.3 hour range with a 6 cell. With a 12 cell that should just about cover a full flight assuming you aren't flying cross country.

I wouldn't waste your money on crysis, it will just make you depressed about your new laptop.Get something like crysis warhead or cod 5.

I would guess around two hours -- but it is largely dependent on the game. I took my DV5 off power to show some friends and played battlefield 2 for roughly 10 or 15 minutes on battery power, and the battery dropped from 100% to 80% (with 12 cell). So a 20% decrease every 10 to 15 minutes isn't too bad. Also, if you get the 12 cell just make sure you 6 cell is all juiced up for the flight and you might get another hour or so.

How are you going to use a mouse on those tiny tray tables though? Lol

You could get a USB game controller like the $9 Saitek one Woot had in the ongoing woot-off. I bought the RumbleForce P2600 off Woot a few weeks ago and i'm pretty darn impressed with it. Only thing is that it's not that great for FPS because of accuracy, but it's great for racing games.

i already bought the wireless receiver for home when I feel like gaming with 360 controller. I also have a wired controller which I am going to use. Why shouldn't I buy crysis bw? Can my laptop not handle it haha

Heh dont get how people can survive plane trips. Usually just try to sleep through them :) But yeah if you're gonna play running off battery, close any uneeded apps in the background and tone down the brightness by a bit if you wanna extend your batt life. And yeah Crysis rips apart most mid range laptops. CoD5 or GTAIV would be a better choice.

I hope your plane trip is short. Continuous gaming over a period of time on a battery increases its wear level at a much faster rate.

Would a 12 cell provide enough watts for that?
