Hello all, i have had a look through your forum and found out that i can't upagrade so... i was just wondering if my 128mb mobile intel 945GM express graphics card uses RAM Because my Laptop has 1024mb of RAM but When i look at specs it says i have 0.99GB, so i thought my graphics card might not be using as much RAM as it needs, is there any way i can make it better. Because i really really want to run counter strike source. Thanks all, :(

intel 945gm will run counter strike all right

since even ATI 200m can run.

yup the intel can suck as much as 192mb of system ram for a total of 224mb ram depending if the game needs it. And yea you can run cs:source at lowest settings

Update the drivers, it may help with some performance with it. I am struggling to get the GMA 950 to do anything either :p But I am seriously lacking RAM at the moment.

Its dynamic - it takes it as it needs it. You can't manually allocate it memory. Don't bother with CS:S - it'll still be crappy on the very lowest settings.

Stick with games from around 2002 and/or dx8 titles, and you'll be fine, even edging into some 2003 territory is too demanding for the card. But some low intensity games will work right up to 2006....it's very hit and miss.

I couldn't have said it better. Windows is reading your RAM as 0.99GB, nothing to worry about. The GMA950 takes anywhere from 8MB to 128MB of system memory at any given time, but only as it needs it. It's not taking a 128MB portion at all times. There's no way you can adjust it.

I don't know about the mobile version, but in desktop 945G chipsets with the GMA 950, you can set the memory allocation procedure in the BIOS. I don't remember all the options the desktops have, but one option is like basic allocation (1MB or 8MB, with 1MB basically being worthless) + the maximum dynamic limit (like 224MB). Another option is completely fixed something like 128MB or 224MB. And the last option is a hybrid, fixed at 64MB or 128MB, plus maximum dynamic limit. There's a Intel whitepaper or at least a more detailed Intel explanation somewhere if you really wanted to know.

It varies depending on how much total RAM you have, and I'm not sure mobile versions have it. Probably not all manufacturers would let you tinker anyways.

Nothing i can do can stop it from lagging not unless some hex jockey can rewrite all the cfg files to make the graphics the same as cs 1.6
