Was just curious as to how much better the 256mb version was? And would the 128mb be enough to play most FPS games today at high/med? Also, can the 128mb version be overclocked to compete with a stock 256mb? Thanks for the help.

Memory is not as important on a PCI-E card as it was with the AGP cards. This is because the pci-e bus is much faster and is able to share system RAM much more effectively. However the 7600 is a great card and will play most games out today on med/high. RAM is not as important as pipelines and speed, etc. Of course you can overclock the 7600 to make it perform better. You should be set with 128 MB.

Vespoli, your comments would apply if the go7600 utilised TurboCache (shared system memory) like the 7400/7300s do, unfortunately it doesn't.

There is a fair performance difference between the 128MB and 256MB models, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if an otherwise perfect machine only had the 128MB card. As Vespoli pointed out, the go7600 is an excellent card which should handle most current titles well at med/high settings at WXGA res.

=/ Oops, sorry. Please ignore my comments about the shared memory.

about 800-1000 3dmarks. Granted the 256mb version is stronger, the 128mb version is no slouch. If you have 2 identical laptops one with the 128mb and one with the 256mb it all depends on how much more the 256mb is in order to justify it.

This is probably one of the frequently asked questions here.

If we talk about benchmarks I'm sure that the 256mb version would get about 1000 points more then the 128mb version of the Go 7600

Anyway, I would say that the 128mb version is still enough to play the lastest games for the time being...

However, there are enough games which will be really "happy" to use these 128Mb extra memory of the 256mb version of the Go 7600. :)
