    Hi guys,

I was JUST about to buy an m1330, but the graphics card isn't really that future proof. It can't run TF2 with all shaders etc on max, or so I've heard.

Anyway, my questions are (and the reason I didnt buy the m1330):
I recently saw news about a 9000 seires GPU being released by Nvidia, which is why I posponed my purchase.

Now; does anyone have speculations on lighter portable laptops (12-13") having this 9000 series GPU? And will it proove any significant increase in performance over the 8000 series in similar computers?

And does anyone know if the M1330 will have a GPU update on it soon (I head they're switching to ATi?)?

Thanks for any speculative answers provided :)

    Cheers,
    SineTwo

you go with a bigger laptop or you dont rele game at medium or higher settings. thats how it is.

and they are always last to update, so probably closer to the end of the year.

Yes that's fair enough - and i'm willing to accept that trade off. I just want to buy the best GPU in a 13" available as I need portability and juice... So I'm just wondering if there are newer 13" laptops with better GPUs than the 8400GS.

There's the LG P300 with a 8600M GS (canada), the BenQ Joybook X31 with a 8600M GT (not available in the states and uses a LV processor). The 9-series of GPUs are already available in 13" notebooks. However, they tend to be the 9300M GS, which performs roughly similarly to the 8400M GS.

Ah I see, so the 9 series replacements aren't really that good then?

I'm wondering if i can get a hold of any of those two in the UK then?

ohh that would get hot...the best could possibly be the 8400m GT. the 9000 seires refresh was just a refresh, pretty much the same cards, just a die shrink and a bit of overclocking. the 8400 cards arnt too bad rele, but they are by no means powerful. keep the res low enough and it should be adequate.

and i dont know if u can get it in UK, try calling BenQ?

It depends. Most of the 9-series cards are refreshed versions of their 8-series counterparts. You get a very slight improvement in performance, as well as lower heat output. You'd have to check the LG forum regarding the P300. I know it's available in Europe. As for the X31, I've only seen it available in Asia.

Yeah man, I'll have a look, googling hard at the moment :D

EDIT: Wow, finished googling, and the P300 looks AMAZING! I just hope I can get it in the uk from a UK dealer. Don't want to be dealing with dealers overseas when and if something goes wrong...
