Ok, I'd like to complie a quick list of all the current gaming class 14" and 15" notebooks out there. I consider "gaming class" to be at minimum an AMD Turion64 or Intel Core Duo coupled with an ATI x1600 or nVidia 7600 or above. Please feel free to add to this list. I posted a few to start and have been adding them as others post them. I'm basically doing this for a quick reference and maybe help others see everything all in one spot.

    Acer Ferrari 5000
Dell XPS m1210 (a 12" that stays in class with these, definitely worth noting)

Acer 5000 added to the list, i'll keep throwing the new ones on the list so its all in one easy place to reference. XPS m1210 is insane for a 12" but only has the nVidia 7400. I'll leave it off the list for now, maybe I'll find a place for it when I expand on the original post a bit.

It might be good for me to post some spec's of these machines along with pricing, but I am getting ahead of myself. For now I want to just gather up what I can for a simple list.

    Zepto 6214W (14", 1280x768, 512MB 7600) and Zepto 6215WD (15.4", 1680x1050, 512MB 7600).

The Zepto 2425 should NOT be included as it is simply a rebadged Compal unlike the two above listed models which are Zepto originals.

Added some more suggestions to the list, but wasn't sure if I should add the Asus V1J seeing as it isn't really out for purchase yet. Looked up some data on it and it seems like there is a few varients floating around on the net but nothing really available for purchase yet? Anyways thanks for everyone's input again!

The V1J will be available shortly and will be a quite popular model.

Actually there is *EDIT* a *EDIT*2415WD and the 6615WD. The *EDIT*2415WD is a relatively outdated system component-wise.

Sorry but what a waste of time...

I don't see what standard You are trying to set in here with this thread. Not all in here can afford to buy laptops every now and then andnot all in here have just bought a new laptop to brag about.

I considder my laptop really good even though it's below Your standards...

Uh were the standard is dual core and a x1600/7600. Were jus trying to help other people who may be considering buying a new laptop.

    .
The people wih new laptops are trying to help people with there choices and im pretty sure thee are loads of people out there -at thi site- lookin at buying a laptop and this is just list of medium sized gaming options.

Though i really think you should put were the notebooks are available and possibly there prices. Makes it far easier for people to work out which one is right for them.

I'm not trying to belittle current laptop owners, what I originally intended to do was just just fill in the gaps where I missed when looking over gaming portables.

Now all I am trying to do is offer a helping hand to people in the market for a NEW laptop by keeping this going. Believe me I know full well that a Pentium M and a x700 are going to perform EXTREMELY close to many laptops on my list.

But for those out buying new models, most are going to be looking for current generation hardware.

Those Clevo's have pretty d*mn powerful gpu. x800 is a lot more powerful than x1600 or go7600. Yes, the processor P4 but as we are talking about Gaming laptops, then the gpu is a lot more important than cpu.

Oh, and are you going to add that Fujitsu-Siemens I mentioned. At least it meets the requirements here, Core Duo and go7600..

I think the sony fe series should be added, they will come with core 2 duo and nvidia 7600. And what surprised me is that the starting price is U$ 1349.00

Ps: Would anyone consider puting prices next to the notebooks?

    Thanks

Better than prices, we should all amount of graphics memory. But a price range would be a good idea, rather than just a single price. Say, $1100-$1800, and 256MB of GDDR3 graphics memory for an HGL-30 (only one I have experience with)

Only these Sony Vaio FE models have an option for Geforce go 7600:
    VGN-FE690
    VGN-FE790 (Core 2 Duo)

Not all of the preconfigured ones come with it. Some may have the go7400 and some the Intel GMA950. The preconfigured VGN-FE690PB seems to have go7600.

what i don't understand is that you guys are talking gaming notebooks with nice graphic cards, without listing how much memory (dedicated) they have and what the clockspeeds are!

everybody should be able to tell that the acer 8200 series has much better performance than the macbook pro, even tho they both have a x1600..
