What 14/15 inch notebook gives the best thermals?
Posted it here cause for all intents, the contenders would definitely be gaming laptops.

Probably either Asus due to their low end components or Clevo.

Not sure what specs you are looking for, but I can vouch for the great cooling and quiet operation of the Asus G46 14" and it's dual fans/heatsinks. I swapped in a i7 Quad, and even under heavy extended loads temps max in the low 80C's. GPU wise, the 660m runs around 70C when overclocked and 99% utilization. Chassis wise, keyboard remains cool to the touch. Hard to complain.

Hmm must have forgotten to include it, but I'm looking for something that can handle a 780m

That just limited your list by a lot ;) I'm not even aware of a 14" capable of running a 780m? 15" I know of the MSI GT60, but jury is still out on cooling with it's single fan and power draw with it's "nos" system, ie battery+psu for overclocks. It appears to cool ok in "turbo" mode but at the expense of what I keep hearing described as a "jet engine" sound.... Not sure on Sager or other 15" choices cooling wise. Asus only has a 17" with the 780m releasing later this summer.

Curious if someone actually knows of a 14"...

Yeah the two I know of are the msi gt60 and the clevo 150sm/157sm.
I'm wondering if there are others out there I missed.

Does the Alienware 14 use MXM? Not sure that's a good choice either I'm hearing reports that cooling is poor on it even at the massive size it is.

I don't think it uses MXM. The cooling isn't "poor"--the m14x/14 keeps the temperatures of the internal components down just fine--but you could say that the thermals are poor. It's noisy and the external chassis runs hot.
