Anyone got some benchmarks (3DMark or anything) for comparison between a overclocked 8600GT DDR2 on a Asus F8SV or Zepto 6224W, and a Lenovo T61p 14" 4:3's crippled Quadro FX570 that's overclocked and running 8600GT DDR3 drivers?
Mainly, because Quadro FX570 is 8600GT DDR3, but the 14" T61p's version of it is crippled. I want to see how it fares against 8600GT DDR2 in the same form factor, all overclocked, all using performance drivers.
I want to get the 14" laptop that has the best GPU after overclocks, and these 3 laptops are the only candidates left.
-
you do know that all cpus/gpus don't overclock the same amount right...?
-
Of course, but I assume same model laptops would overclock to around the same thing... I'd just take it as an average kinda thing. And I've given 3 models, hoping there's clear difference between them to help me decide which one to get.
-
Bump.

My asus f8sv-
Overclock: 600 core : 1200 shader : 569 memory
3dmark06: 4,626
Driver: 169.09 -
Thanks Gobmonster! Can you run a 3dMark05 please?
I'll be charting all results I come by in the first post. -
I'm gonna try downloading 3D Mark '05 for you!
The difference between my 06 score and the Gobmonster score is quite little :-s
He has clocked the memory 100MHz higher and he uses 1280x 800 when benching
And you want to buy a 14,1 incher...
Most of them have a 1280x800 screen, Zepto has a 1440x900'er! -
I have tested the 169.17 drivers also with 3D Mark '05:
3D Mark '05: 1024x768 --> 475MHz/ 950MHz/ 400MHz --> 6367
3D Mark '05: 1024x768 --> 600MHz/ 1200MHz/ 475MHz --> 7712
According: here you can get this scores with a GO8600M GT'je: '06: 3269 & '05: 5938
And I get that easily -
No problem. I'll download 3dmark05 when i get home.
And if i get my hands on a external monitor i'll run both benchmarks @ 1280x1024, but at the moment, i dont have one to myself
AND, memory overclocking seems to do a whole lot more than core overclocking, atleast from what i hear, the only thing is, i cant take my memory any higher than ive already taken it, the display driver crashes and i cant overclock again until i reboot. My memory is stock clocked at 400, and i can take it up 169mhz and stay stable. -
In the process of finding T61p overclockers...
If I remember correctly, the last T61p scores I saw were far inferior... I wonder why that is. -

I finally got around to running 3dmark05! and i also reran 3dmark06.
Since clb-nl is using the clock speed 600/475, i thought id run my test both at the same, as thatd be the only way to get a fair comparison. Also, im still using 169.09 drivers
-
Relax that you use the same clock...
And could you even try the same resolution?
I've scored 4147 points with 1280x 854,
you scored 129 points more but with 1280x 800... -
and my screen res s 1280x800, i cant run the test with 854 unless i use external monitor, but even then, i dont remember 1280x854 being an option, how exactly did you do that? -
That's because of the 'batch' Somes are better to OC than others!
How I did that.. I didn't do anything! If I start '06 it will allways bench in
1280x854... If I start '05 it will allways bench in 1024x768...
I use the basic versions of 3D Mark and I can't select the test-resolutions -
Interesting, the 3M05 and 3M06 scores are ranked different. Probably because Gobmonster has 3Gb RAM, eh?
I'm still looking for 14" T61p clockers, which are rare, it seems. -
the difference in the 06 scores can be attributed to ram, but im thinking its those extra 54 pixels
but whats more weird is that clb's 3dmark05 scores are sooo much higher than mine, i wonder what made the ~400 mark difference -
Drivers, perhaps? You won't know until you try it, haha.
-
Yes or the Windows version... X86 vs X64? (Don't know what you use Gob?)
-
I use x86.
Seems like the 169.09 drivers work really good for me, i'll try some others over the break to see if there is any huge benefit. With a decent clock, i feel like i can tackle almost any thing thrown at me, but if changing drivers result in an extra fps or two, it wouldnt hurt -
3DMark Score 4560 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 1893 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 1792 Marks
CPU Score 1727 Marks

On a Znote 6324W with T7250 2GB and VistaBx64 -
Thanks! My resolution was: 1280*800
14"ers: overclocked 8600GT DDR2 vs FX570 (crippled)?
