There are a few 15.4'' notebooks out there with Geforce 9500/9600/9700 series graphics out there, but it seems the best I can find is ATI's HD3650, which scores under 4500 in 3DMark06, while the 9800M GT blows it away with over 9000. Are there any 15'' or smaller laptops with HD3670s or better in them? Or is the high end notebook graphics market dominated by nvidia?

9000? The Geforce 9600M GT DDR2 scores around 4400-4500 in 3dmarko6 while the DDR3 version scores around 5200.

    huh? 9000 3dmarks for a 9600 GT? more like 5000 3dmarks.....

hahaha, that really made my night reading that

the high end mobile GPU market is dominated by nvidia as the only high end ati card is the 3870, found in a 17 incher

EDIT: dam beat me to the puch cheeseman

What gaz333 said (esp. the "this read made my night" bit).

Things should get interesting when 4870 comes out though, if I remember correctly.

i doubt they would be able to fit a 4870 or 50 in a 15 incher

i think the OP should just go with nvidia at the moment, i suggest a asus g50v or a qosmio f55

If they cram high end nvidia cards in 15in laptops, I think ATi can do the same. Personally with all the power in a high end GPU and CPU I wouldn't want anything but a 17in for usability and heat dissipation. But then again thats just me.

ALthough Im not helpful in giving information about ATi high end laptop cards, I can say that my 3200 IGP with 64MB of sideport memory is quite impressive for an IGP. So when the higher end cards do come they probably wont dissappoint.

sorry but thats not high end. High end ati cards usually have big second degit numbers: 3850, 4870, x1900, etc etc.

I think the way people classify them now is that high end cards must have a 256bit bandwidth.

Its just not possible. Stop dreaming. In laptops that are 15.4inch will never see high end cards due to thermal limitations.

sager np8660 and its platformates? AW m15x, 9800gt, 8800gtx not highend? yes they exist. and its hard to fit a highend card in a 14.1 or smaller frame but its not impossible. soon with the furture 45nm or smaller process its very likely to seen a "GTX 380m" in a 14.1

You obviously have not seen or used the new Toshiba Qosmio F55 15.4" laptop. Im my opinion it has more than adequate cooling to accomadate the higher end GPU's, it is a little thicker than the regular 15.4" laptops. Currently it has a modular Nvidia 9700M GTS card, I am guestimating that when the 9800M comes out that it will fit and work in this laptop too. God Bless :)

What about the 8800mGTX in a 15.4 alienware here?

What about the sager with 9800mGT here?

Both are 15.4 and have top graphics cards offered today (the 9800mGTX isnt out yet).

    BenQ has a 13 inch with a 8600GT DDR3, how bout that.

15 inches like Sager and AW are the king of the hill right now.

12 inch probably goes to HP tx2500z's Puma IGP.

    14 inchers... The most I've seen was 8600GT DDR2.

Yeah I agree 100% for the 12. It beats the 8400/2400 cards pretty nicely. I looked into the x31 from benq and wow thats a nice rig.
