Nvidia releases these drivers faster than we can download them. If you're just updating your drivers now then get these, but if you already have 169.04 or 169.09 installed, then stay where you are.

    Thanks for this info!

Yea, that's what i'm going to do too :p
I still got the 169.04 driver, i only upgrade when there comes a driver that gives an performance boost....

    169.04 works great for me

You can install it, but it only fixes an issue of the 8800 card....
There are NO changes (the same as the 169.09 driver)

I've downloaded the 169.09 and i've been having many issues such as the display driver not working and then Windows saying it has "recovered" from it. I used the modded inf from the 169.09 not the modded inf 169.04, is this ok?

I also had issues with the 169.09 so i went back to 169.04

I recommend: STAY WITH 169.04 IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SLI LAPTOP...

It doesn't matter, as long as you change date and driver ver. :)

So what do people think of this driver? performance boost?

That's beta drivers for you. 99.9% of the time unless you can't run a game, they're not necessary. But the frequent performance increases are a welcome advancement!

Understand that drivers are not for specific card . . . the driver that works with a GeForce 8800 will also work with a GeForce 6200 and a GeForce 7600.
That's a good point you make - these are all beta drivers.

So after these drivers the non-beta/final drivers will be released that will still improve the performance of the 8 series cards?

I prefer ati for this reason, less but significant drivers updates instead of every week little update to transform the user in a beta-driver tester...

Oops, I meant the modded inf for 169.04 and XP 32-bit, not vista..hehe

I've been using 169.09, but I understand that 169.04 seem to be running crysis with more stability.

Nah, I was going to move over to the 169.04 drivers from the .09 just to see if there is a difference..

    I'll wait a little longer before I switch to 169.12, I think.

Will the drivers actually go into the 170. or 180. series or will they stop making them?

Well, as long as Nvidia make new cards, they're going to continue towards 200 I think.
Cards need drivers to work properly :D So in theory they can go into 300-400 series

The 169.04 is the most stable and reliable so far. Until another driver comes out to actually increase performance, and not just fix some bugs, there is no point in actually talking about it..

Is this true for the Asus G1S as well? I'd read somwhere that the Asus stock drivers were better as they took advantage of the DDR3 memory properly, but I've no basis to say whether this was true or just rumour? Any views appreciated.

Download the the driver from Nvidia and use any modded inf from 160.xx series

Remember to change driver id and date in the .inf file
