laptopvideo2go.com has 169.21 for NVidia drivers.
I wonder what this one does...
-
-
I seen these on guru3d's site today. Didn't .17 come out like.. last week?
That's some scary active development. Makes you wonder if their scattering to fix problems or actually just trying to improve everything.
I just upgraded to 169.09..God damnit..
Anyone try them? How are they.. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
I've installed them. Just installed office sp1, vista sp1, new driver, and new audio driver and just got done so give me a few before I can try.
-
How is SP1 on Vista? I was tempted but..Last thing I need is my work machine/play machine gutted from a buggy service pack.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Started a new thread in windows section about it. Everything is a bit faster from what I can tell. Gonna test the new .21 in a few with cod4.
-
Yup, thanks found you're thread
COD4? Perfect- I'm hooked on that game, got it yesterday and beat it 4 times now.. lmao..
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Not bad gave my minimum about a 3 fps boost. Before I would dip down to low 20s with 2 AA at 1680 x 1050 but now the lowest is 25.
Also guys, which one is the nv startup program that loads your desktop color settings? Among nvsvc, nvcpldaemon and the other one? -
does the one from guru have the modded inf in the file? if not can i get a link to the one from lt2go

The Forerunner, delete all the NVIDIA start up things besides 'NvCplDaemon'. The others are media library, shortcuts, help crap. Useless waste of cpu cycles.
3FPS at that res? hmm likely maybe 7-10 at my resolution then. Hey every extra frame added, is very welcome..know what I mean? lol
Gonna have to download it I guess.. Nothing like upgrading my drivers twice in one night! -

169.21 are better on crysis.
I don't know if they increased the top end framerate much, but some places where framerates dropped before now do not.
also i can run gears of war 1440x900 all high now, fast. it rocks. EXCELLENT port. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
And is nwiz needed? Yeah I see a boost in performance for crysis too.
-
Good to see that 169.21 is an improvement... but is it much more better than 169.04 (the one I'm using)? -
Awesome, gonna try these mixed with xp sp3 and hope for some performance gains.
Forerunner, I think nwiz is the process due to nview which adds special effects if you want to such as window transparency in XP. Its not working in Vista so I double disabling it would do any harm.
I could be wrong though -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Lol I don't even remember. I used 169.04,13,17 and now 21. THey all went up in performance and this was a nice boost so yeah I would recommend it if you want some performance.
-
Im at 158.22 at the moment, had some problems with 169.04 before such asa games slowing down then speeding up again which got very annoying as one min im running towards the building, game slows down, the other min im already past it lol.
Havent updated since so hope these 169.21 after installing xp sp3 will do the trick -
Shucks, apparently, there's a missing .DLL file for the windows XP version (from lv2g)
.
-
due to a problem in the inf i suppose?
-
-
maybe the inf didnt reference the dll.
but if its the drivers fault then you can try something
download the xp 32 bit drivers from guru3d and then replace that inf with lv2gos inf and see if the problem still occurs

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
just make sure you uninstall your previous drivers correctly.
i had no problems. -
no problems here with installing, gives about a 5-7 FPS boost in cod4 for me.
gunna run a 6 hour stability test overnight.. see how it does. -
New drivers seem allright. No problems so far. Can`t seem to get the overclocking settings to stick thou.

What ? What's your question ?
-
no improvement...
-
3DMark06 is a s***ty way to judge a driver.
3DMark06 score may not change at all, but the in-game performance will. Play some games and post your thoughts! I'm sure there's a difference, whether it's fps loss or fps gain -
I just tested cod4 (with OC)
I think this driver lowered the temperature of my 8600M GT with like 4-5°C
I like that.
Maybe a tiny little little bit of performance improvement, or maybe just the same -
Today I got the SP1 update with the .21 drivers. Haven't tried any games on the SP1 update yet but I've played COD4 after updating the .21 drivers and I can't really tell much of a difference...
I thought Crysis didn't work with post .17 drivers until a patch for it was released?! -

The tutorial on laptopvideo2go shows the Have disk method of installing.
Many posts here say uninstall drivers, reboot, then install.
Have disk method just has you go to the device manager and update the driver without uninstalling. Don't want to mess up/never did this before. What's the consensus? -
i'd also like to have a link to the best way to remove my driver now (.04) so i can upgrade to .21 -- preferably an application? i forgot the name of it ;\
thanks -

Driversweeper is the name. I use the safe restart method but you don't have to. The instructions are all on that page as well as the link to the installer. -
i tried the have disk method before and it worked smoothly, although i am not sure whether it completely updates to the new driver and retain some old files from previous driver.
-
I always do the same thing:
1. Device Manager \ Uninstall driver & checkbox delete all software \ Restart
2. Device Manager \ Update driver \ Have disk method \ Restart
Flawless every time. -
anybody got a real in game test? meaning Crysis on 169.xx and 169.21? because if there`s some improvement there, there will be improvement in all games then...
-
Guess you have to look at Guru3D forums to see benchs... There aren't really any benchs here :S
-
So did anybody test them properly yet ? I just finished updating SP1 and it took a long time so I`m not up for another gazillion restarts...
-
It looks like i got some stuttering ingame with this driver, my fps is good but like when i sprint in cod4 i feels like i move in shocks ...
-
Just installed 169.21 on XP Pro SP2. All games run smothly except Battlefield 2. I can't run it. Anyone noticed the same problem?
Thanks -
hate to break it to you all but apparently 169.25 just came out. haha.
