anyone have a good list of which vendors are currently selling (or planning on selling soon) 17"+ notebooks with 8800 gts or x cards?
I've been trying to patiently wait for the 8800 HDX's that were previewed at CES, but my patience is about to run out![]()

HP Dragon, alienware 17x, several of the new Sager models, new 17" gateway reviewed by bwxheon etc.
-
HP dragon is a flop product...and its 20"
i would Suggest ASUS Gaming Series..also known as G series -
Sager/Clevo...
-
Asus hasn't announced they're using any 8800's yet, highest end they have comes with 8700's in SLi
-
The only G series gaming laptop is the G1s. The G2s is a G1s with a 17" screen. Sucky!
Then, the only manufacturer that actually has a 8800M GTX on sale is Clevo (people have received it, posted benchmark results). For the GTS the only one is Gateway.
Wait a bit if you want to buy something and you can't decide. -
hrm i want something with 8800 and a GREAT screen (like fujitsu lifebooks)
-
HP Pavillion ...8800 have been released...my friend bought one.. forgot the exact model..
-
Rule of thumb for most 17" screens:
- the higher the resolution, the slight lost of brightness
- the lower the resolution, the slight gain of brightness
...... its due to power specifications. -
Sager, period.. IMO, mine's got the best screen I've EVER seen on a notebook, and I've seen alot of notebooks.
2,304,000 tiny dots of pure perfection. -
There's a new $1400 Gateway gaming notebook with the 8800M GTS that has such a card for such a configuration because of a very weak Core 2 Duo processor.
-
(if/when they ever release the dragons with 8800 GTX's, that is) -
-
you have to look up the specs of the panel if you are a particualr person.
I am very happy with my LG WUXGA panel... although the newer version of mine is 20% brighter and has 30% faster response... jealous.
Cant complain though, I had this notebook for almost two years now, its still a beast and fully healthy.
17"+ notebooks with 8800's?
