I recently installed 171.16 drivers with modded inf after using 169.28, and my 3dmark06 score seemed to drop around 100, but Crysis might actually be running better. Do any of you have experiences with these 2 drivers and which are more suited for the 8600m gt and xp pro.
I checked laptopvideo2go.com but nobody addressed my concerns it seemed.

I thought the 17x.xx drivers only added support for the new 9xxx series of video cards.

The best driver for XP that I've found is the 167.58 from Asus that was posted here a while back, hands down, and I tried most, including 171. - which sucked. I play NFS most wanted alot, and it's the only one that lets it run smooth on a 8800 series, including my desktops.

basically a higher driver version does not necessarily mean it is a better driver. it all depends on the games you play and whether you are on DirectX 9 or 10 etc,. this is my personal experience...

also, do you happen to have a link to those drivers nofearzz? Be advised im on a 8600m gt. -
