actually, are these drivers OC-able? I can OC with 169.04 only for some reason, couldn't do it on 169.12 or 169.09

Yup, you can overclock with these. Just installed. Going to test.
-
i was able to overclock with other drivers but these -
I don't know why, but it told me that the program could not find any drivers compatible with my hardware (my system is in my sig). I have 7.15.5669 driver (the default driver that came with my refurbished Dell). I've never really gone about doing this before, since I've relied on Windows Update. How do I install this driver, or can I even do that? Thanks!

Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
used ntune and riva they don't work on me -
yea, rivatuner does _NOT_ overclock on these drivers
I have a 64mb DDR3 geforce 8400m GS, it only overclocked with 169.04 for me -
Try using ATI Tool, it may work. It works for me since I OC my go7300.
-
Instead of starting a new thread, my 3Dmark06 score 296, which seems incredibly low in comparison to some others here, I know its has an integrated GPU, but shouldn't it be a little higher? The test was run on the laptop in my sig.
EDIT: Well I have re-done the test and now have a score of 1257 , s'pose it isn't really that good but better than some -
Works great with my 8800m GTX. 3dmark06 went up a little to 10,381(doesn't mean squat, but thought I'd post it anyway), and all games run great. Tried Crysis, so no difference from before.

nTune works for OCing..jus checked

I use rivatuner to overclock. Nothing special, same way I overclock all the other drivers. Performance has generally improved.

No idea what i managed to do, but the 174.12s just won't install for me.
I managed to install them once, but my 3D mark score dropped several hundred points. So, I uninstalled, and tried to do a clean install. Now, whenever I try to install them, Vista tells me the drivers (which have been re-downloaded several times now) are not for Vista and won't install. I have no clue what I did... any ideas? -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
That happened to me to the first time I installed. Just make sure you used the modded inf. and also make sure the dialog box that says this driver is not compatible/ or for your computer DOES come up, because that is always the signal if the driver will install correctly. You know the box that says install anyways. If it doesn't come up then it won't install properly.

Forerunner -
I downloaded from another site, using the modded INF, and got the driver signing, but it still does not install. Doing the "have disk" method, i get this:
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Are you on vista 64 bit? Then I think you need a different modded inf.
-
nope, Vista 32bit. and i am using the 32bit INF and driver (driver DL from two sources).
Besides, like I said before - it DID install once; but my 3DMark scroe dropped bad. So, I tried an uninstall and reinstall, and there is where the problems started. Other drivers work fine still... it is just these 174.12.... -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
My main question is that does it ask when your installing that do you want to install anyways even though your driver is incompatible?

Maybe you just need to use a registry cleaner or the driver sweeper program especially if you've never done it before.

Wow, its better than I thought, cheers radditz
So on a laptop, what is generally the highest score you can get? -
ive been on 169.04 for a long time now, is this driver worth the update?
*8700mGT* -
Can someone answer my question, please?
-
Anyways, see the Updating Video Card Drivers sticky. -
all those that post about this be it good or bad, it would be nice to know your machines and cards, put them in your signature, coz this helps everyone
-
thinkin of trying this out
how much does the 3d mark score increase by from 169.28 -> 174.12
for a 8600m gt GDDR3 current score about 3930 (no overclocking) -

Tried these with WoW and it seems a heck of a lot smoother with 4x multisampling than with the stock drivers, however it seems to cap my FPS at 50 (whereas before it capped them at 60 -- what gives? Everything is set to 60 Hz.)
Bottom line is though, smoother game play is king so I'm keeping these drivers. Recommended.
And also: they won't OC in RivaTuner for me for some reason.. -

I want to be able to get get 30+ fps
-
EDIT: i run at 1024x768 though... -

Best SLI driver on my m9750 so far, Crysis all on high 32+FPS never below
-
Can i run high settings in crysis with my Asus g2s? the specs are in my sig.. if yes then what what video card driver to use and what are the other things that needs to be upgraded/updated?

I finally managed to OC with this driver! My problem was not delinking the clocks when clock/shader isn't a "link" compatible speed, then RivaTune won't take the settings.
And, the scores are in!!
Highest possible settings that won't crash WoW/blow up my computer:
762/1524/975
3DMark06 score: 6061
This is 400 points higher than my best previous result, and 1400 points higher than standard (which is around the 4600 mark).
I'm absolutely over the moon!!
Temps run up to about 79C on this setup, which I reckon is still alright.

I installed this driver, ran 3DMark 06 and got 4376 3DMarks.....
My cards not OC'd -

What was your score before updating? -
I would sugesst upgarding to this one, is the newest and gives a nice performance boost. -
well, I went back to 169.04 and overclocked just a little to obtain 30+ fps on COD4 at 1280x800 resolution
I'm just baffled as to why I couldn't overclock the 174.12 drivers but only with the 169.04 -
Well, after a 10 pages thread talking about this driver and how good is it, I decided to download and test it. So here goes my benchmarks:
Driver: 169.32 -> 174.12
3Dmark06: 3512 -> 3543 (@ 1280x800)
Half-Life 2: ~85-110 -> ~120-160 (by FRAPS, the maximum values it reaches, lots of fluctuation)
World in Conflict: 12/20/36 -> 12/22/39 (using in-built benchmark test, min/avg/max)
Overall a very good improvement. The source engine shows an amazing boost. A modern and heavy game as World in Conflict gives ~10% increase.
As a side note: Nvidia has been releasing very good drivers lately. My change from 169.28 to 169.32 drivers gave me another 10% increase in WiC.
And for reference, my system specs:
Vostro 1500, Vista 32 bit
2.0GHz C2D / 2GB RAM / 256MB 8600m GT (no overclock) -
