anyone tested 174.40 xp vs current top driver 174.16?
SORRY FIXED 174.26 to .16 -
imma try these out for vista
-
-
best, ( most widely doesnt mean best for everyone but best as in most people noticed more fps, stability etc)
-
-
Maybe I should upgrade from 169.09 one of these days.
-
There's just too many of them, I don't even bother anymore, sticking with 174.21 for now. Anyways, thanks for the headup!
-
How do these compare to 174.31?
Do some benchmarks... -
I just updated to the 174.31. I have a x205 sli1 and it kicks ass with this update on Call of Duty 4. I'm new to this and want to try 174.51 cause shouldn't it be better than .31 and .40? Can I destroy my system by always changing the drivers back and forth if I find I don't like the new update and do I really have to use diskcleaner pro each time I install a different version? Also I keep hearing 169.xx is the best drivers, is it really better for my Toshiba x205 sli1?
-
i dont usually use these types of drivers, they arent officially released from nvidia website, i suppose they must leaked, as such they tend not to be too stable (maybe still in alpha/early beta?), but get them a try see what you think
-
anyone can refer me to whats the best 8800m gtx drivers ?
i'm a new notebook owner and i really wish i could improve crysis performances...
ty ! -
Carbonseed I would say 171.16 and 171.20 is your best bet
-
-
i meant officially released nvidia drivers from their website with releases notes etc, not from other third party sites.
i was not refering to notebook drivers.
edit: never say never, you can grab geforce go drivers from their site. windows xp only though -
A lot of people reported that .40 drivers kill the control panel.
I might try them myself later on. -
I don't even touch the 17x drivers anymore, 169.25 is the best for me. It also happens to be the official stable release on Nvidia's website for the desktop 8600 GT.
I'll just wait till they release their next update for that card ON THEIR WEBSITE.
I have really gotten tired of trying out all of the beta drivers, and I feel like it is a bad idea when I use the 17x drivers, which are specifically designed for the 9 series desktop cards.
When those driver updates are consolidated back into a driver that is listed for the 8600 GT, I'll feel better downloading it. For now, I prefer my screen NOT function as an expensive strobe light (as it does with 17x drivers). -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
On the laptopvideo2go website, the 169.45 drivers fro Vista 32 do not list the 8600M GT as being supported? Yet before I saw that I downloaded and installed these drivers, and they seem to be working just fine for Source games and Tomb Raider Legend. The control panel seems to be working fine as well, although I have not really messed with any settings in there, just poked around. So why is the 8600M GT not listed as supported? And should I be using these drivers or another version? Thanks -
This is how we are able to change the .inf of any Nvidia DESKTOP driver release and get it to run on our LAPTOP GPUs.
I just don't want to be a beta tester for all of these drivers any longer. I'd rather just wait till the primary Nvidia driver is updated to something more modern. Right now all Geforce cards are updated in the 169.25 driver, but people on this board want bleeding edge performance, so they are trying out all of the 17x drivers. -
I think your right StormEffect, I think the guys who rave about the 17x's are stepping up from their factory stock drivers and reporting big improvements, so sure they would see a big difference. With all the new 9 series drivers out I hope they aren't skipping over us 8 series owners, but that looks like the situation.
-
Eventually they will be incorporated into a stable driver we can all use. -
I get BSOD every now and then from the 174.31 driver, only on shut down though. Pretty funny, but game peformance was a great improvement over the 169.25 driver, still on fence though. Any idea if I should try 169.61, or go with the newewt 174 driver?
-
Ive been installing lots of drivers recently. 174.31 give me the best perforamce so far so im not going to risk it any further. Last time I did my games crashed randomly! I doubt these will massively improve performance anyway.
-
been using 174.31 fora bit, and I like em the most. Seem to run the coolest as well, and yes I've used 169.09,25,and 28
-
Okay i installed 174.51 last night on my 8400m GS
Seems to be stable so far. Got an extra 3-4fps on CS:S stress test (not 100% accurate) but i usually got 66fps on my old drivers 174.16) now i get 69-70fps. Funny thing is my old drivers 169.xx, before i did a clean install gave me 75fps flat!
Control panel is intact and working fine
I think it was 174.31 that kept giving me BSODS due to nvkkdvm.sys file. My screen would keep flashing black and white -
174.31 has been trouble free for the FX 570m, best overall performance too.
-
174.51 still running stable after 2 days of usual use/gaming. I cant confirm if its OC capable though
You guys might wanna check it out and give it a try. -
nTune works with it
-
Which ones still allow powermizer to work?
-
Does digital vibrance work for both?
-
Again could you post some 3DMark06 benchmarks?
-
Do these drivers allow you to mess with screen brightness. My current 174.31 doesn't, and the 167.x do not, as I have tried all of the new ones.
-
-
I do have it installed, and I have reinstalled it as well as reverted back to standard VGA drivers even. I have contacted Asus, and all they said was to reinstall ATK and VGA. I guess I can either play with it till eternity or reinstall everything :/ The function buttons nor the Power Application will let me change the brightness.
174.51 and 174.40 released
