Hi everyone
I wanna ask if anyone knows if any of the 175 drivers are overclockable with a 8600gs ? so far ive only found 169.04 to be :/ none of the 174 or 175 ive tried would not reset my settings. however id really like the game boost in the new drivers.

Thomas. How are you getting on with your LG? Is it running better than your Zepto did? Are you using Rivatuner to overclock? Rivatuner refuses with mine but I can get ntune to overclock. Granted it means I have to set my clocks every time I reboot the machine, but I can live with that.
You might want to try evga overclocking utility, it's here if you want to try. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=252788 -
Hey there, im great with my LG
it runs better than my zepto on all areas! only hardware wise weaker spot is the 8600gs instead of gt.. however! its ddr3 so it can be overclocked like mad without much more temp. which means in 3dmark06 i went from 3150 score to 3950 without problems
however, only been able to with 169.04and yes, rivatuner and nvidias ntune

You need to edit your vBIOS to allow it to OC drivers past 169.04
HP's with a 8600gs have this problem too, they found a solution by using NiBiTor (Nvidia BIOS Editor) to edit the vBIOS. Its very complicated and somewhat risky though.. -
Yeah ive read about it and tried actually.. but it wont even allow me to read my bios :/ btw 171.16 will overclock aswell, but just not "new" enough either really.

I have yet to update my stock drivers and am currently deciding which ones to get. Seems from your posts though that you can't overclock the 8600GS with 174/175.xx drivers......which I was actually planning to install since many have said they are better than the established 169.04.
Hmm, seems that I have yet to overclock a graphics card I'll play safe first and install 169.04. I'll then install a 174.xx or 175.xx to see if the 8600GS in my vaio overclocks.
AND btw guys, whats the highest OC you've achieved with you're 8600GS's? -
Im running 651 core / 851 mem fine on my 8600gs (500/700 stock)
which means I go from 3150 score in 3dmark06 (1280x768) to 4050s score, same settings. In games like world of warcraft it means around 20-50 fps in azeroth and 10-20 fps in outlands, its very noticable.
all with 169.04.
btw: 169.04 runs WAY better in older dx9 games like wow than 175.80 does. -
Got an LG P300 as well, except with a T8100, 2.1GHz.
My clocks using 169.04 drivers (seeing as they seem to be the only overclockable drivers to me) reach 685 core / 870 memory with no problems. I can super-OC it to 700-885, but older games freeze (newer games work flawlessly though, and I don't need to OC that high for old games).
Stock settings were 500-700.
Stock 3dMark06 score was at 3313 (pretty good at stock!).
Using Max OC (I play modern games, so it works stable), I get 4413.
I have yet to try the "overclockable" 171.16.
Does anyone know any newer drivers that overclock on BIOS-locked GPUs? I need to test Far Cry 2 on this system, but 169.04 just won't cut it anymore, it's too outdated.
175.xx not overclockable on 8600gs?
