hi i need help. my laptop is alienware m17x with dual gtx280m
i waited so long for new driver to be released so that i can play bad company2 with sli cuz with 1 gpu i only got 30+fps in medium settings.
now ive installed 197.16, sli is working but i still get stuck at 30fps at high, medium and low settings. it just stucks there, the same for cnc4 also.
And another problem is my graphics aint as good as other ppl's m17x that is the same or older. i run crysis at medium and get only 20+fps and some other games alittle low in framrates also.
other games works fine always get 60fps except for those above problems.
    in heaven benchmark 2.0 at 1440x900, directx10, high, afx4, aax0 i get average of 50fps

Is your power plan set to high performance?

    Check your power plan.
Next, how old is your laptop and when was the last time you cleaned it from dust?

Also, do you have a lot of bloatware installed on your computer?

You could also try installing DOX modified drivers 185.85 and see if your fps improve

as mentioned above, power plan and cleaning first.
did you remove old drivers in safe mode and use driver cleaner pro before installing new drivers? if so this could be your problem.
if you want a walkthrough then just holler.

CNC4 is in fact locked to 30fps (at least the beta was).

Also check if Vsync is on (needs to be off if you want framerates other than 15/30/60).

yep power plan is on high performance. and cleaning? this comps like near 1 month old. yea i do clean also. and cnc4 i tried on off vsync still same 30 fps. its still playable but im mostly concern about bad company 2 and other games like crysis
i did uninstall and install the drivers many times already. and no point changing back to old versions that doesnt support sli in new games...

    Hello,
Did you check to see if maybe your computer is running in stealth mode?

    Stealth Mode
Stealth Mode helps you switch your notebook to a low power state to facilitate the
use of a 65 W auto/air adapter. This state is well suited for casual use such as e-mail,
music/video/DVD playback. Stealth mode will switch the notebook from discrete to
integrated graphics mode, and also incorporate additional system power savings
to extend battery life and reduce power consumption. Switching into and out of
Stealth mode may require a reboot depending on your system configuration and
    the operating system.
You can access Stealth Mode by gently touching the touch control located near the
top of the keyboard. The control will illuminate to full brightness until the function
is deactivated. For the exact location of the control, refer to the “Top View Features”
    diagram on page 13.

its alittle hard for that cuz everytime i uninstall a nvidia driver and restart this alienware laptop tends to auto install it back after ive restarted. but after many tries i was able to do that but still the same.

Use HWMonitor to check all of your temps and have it running while you game and check temps afterward. Even with a single GPU, at that resolution you should be getting much better performance.

With regards to your Power plan, many advise using High Performance but I always use Balanced with no performance difference in gaming than what I got with High performance. The balanced profile is better in my opinion because it works to save a little when you switch to battery but uses high performance settings when you are gaming on the AC.

You need to "disable Windows Update automatic driver installation" for this not to happen again.
