    How different is a 2GB 7670M compared to a 1GB 7670M using 1GB RAM as VRAM?

The RAM is DDR3 and the GFX card is GDDR3 too (as opposed to x5)

I will be playing games (FIFA, F1, GTA IV, Max Payne, etc..) and the Toshiba website says the maximum graphics adapter memory is "4847MB" so is it worth upgrading my laptop to 8GB RAM?

    Thanks

it probably wont use up all 1GB dedicated memory, given you run it on 1 monitor

If you won't do too much texture modding on GTA IV, or any of those games, then there is no difference. Ram chips are cheap to produce and extra vram on video cards is mostly a marketing gimmick, but sometimes it comes in handy in specific situations where you mod games with HD textures.
Usually, you can crank up the texture settings to max if you have enough vram. It shouldn't hamper performance, like the other settings.
