I already bought the games I just want to know if the books will run them, and I have a xbox. Gaming sucks on consoles though.

i dont think they will. they look pretty old and those games have (comparitively) high specs. i cant give you a definite answer though, they didnt list what gpu they have. i would bet that they are integrated though, which is bad for gaming.

Its hard to say without the direct GPU info, but I'm willing to bet they both have an IGP and if thats the case, neither one of those will run the games you have(especially COD4) with any fluidity. In other words, I would keep shopping around and look for something with a dedicated GPU.

Look deeper most of those are packs with old games like tfc :p I know both of those can run tfc fine. A big thing is tf2, and ut3? will those run fine, I don't really care about cod4.

Why does UT3 need such a good cpu, most cpu's in a laptop now a day's don't even have 2.5ghz

    1. The CPUs in laptops are almost all dual-core. The requirements are for single-core CPUs.

    2. The bottleneck will be the GPU anyways.

    3. Those old laptops will definitely not be able to run UT3 or TF2 with much fluidity.

That's assuming it's a single core on Pentium 4 architecture. Those requirements are outdated as a Core 2 Duo T7250 would way outperform a Pentium 4 3.8Ghz.

I would love that laptop but I would only use it for about 4 months, so is it really worth the extra money?

It'll have a better resale rate when you sale it, plus you're getting it new and its' faster. Chances are that when you sell it after you get your new laptop, you'll only lose about $50 more over those other ones you listed.

That's because the Source Engine is still so CPU intensive. If only they would update it for the older games.

I asked for an advance so I can get the best buy one. But how much does 1ghz on a dual = to 1ghz on a single.

You need to think of it like this.

A single core of a Pentium 4 running at 2GHz compared to a single core of a Core2Duo running at 2GHz.

The Core2Duo core will be at least 40% faster.

Now. Consider the fact that there are TWO Core2Duo cores. This doesn't mean you double your performance in all applications, but it will result in a much smoother and more multitask friendly experience.

That said, neither of the linked laptops will play TF2 or Unreal 3. Older games like TFC will probably run though.
