I can't decide now between the Assus W3J and the Z96J...

The super portability of the W3J and incredible looks of it make me wanna go that way, but for intene gaming it only's got 1gug RAM versus a 2 gig bump in the Z96J.... what do y'all think?

I would suggest upgrading the W3J's ram yourself. Upgrading RAM on a laptop is one of the easier things to do and if you're not comfortable with it, take it to a computer shop and pay someone to do it.

The reason I still want the Z96J over the W3J is the resolution of the Z96J is 1680x1050.

I agree with ael719! Do it yourself, upgrading RAM is very very easy! Buy one yourself on computersites, and build it in!

I'm not that eager to void my warranty though :(

You'll have to check, I don't know with Asus, but I don't think upgrading your RAM voids you warranty. It is a very non-invasive process.

Some warranty still valid; On the rest of the original machine, but not on what you put in. What you install only covered by oem Mfr warranty. Most decent RAM is lifetime.
I think a Fedral law [couple of years ago!] covers this, but many companies try to pull wool over your eyes.
Buy barebones & put it together. Search Links in here, can find assembly notes.
Eddie @ G2P indicated a monkey could assemble a Asus Z62F it is so simple, other Asus should not be hard!

Upgrading RAM doesn't void your warranty on most notebooks, read over the warranty and check for yourself to make sure.

2GB of RAM will make a signifigant difference in the latest games. You'll notice the difference between one and two gigs right away.

upgrading the ram one of these most important upgrades for gaming..2gb and 1gb..easy to tell the difference. in WoW, when going into IF...2gb gives me almost no lag, but with 1gb it would stop for a few seconds...and then i would appear at the gripphon point.

I suggest you get a 1 gig ram installed by asus (1*1, not 2*512). Try it out, if it isn't enough then upgrade it yourself. There is nothing to it, and if you're worried about the guarantee you can always remove it before taking it in. ;)

Going from 1gig to 2gig of ram you will not really see any difference, and in my opinion (and friends who work for MS) it is a waste of money.

1GB > 2GB makes a big difference if you utilize that much memory on a regular basis.

I can't help myself, I laugh at that statement.

1 to 2 gigs is a huge difference in alot of games, especially Battlefield 2. With 1gig you usually can't run it at more than medium, with 2 you can run it at highest without stutter.

    Yes I agree with csidle,

2 GB of RAM makes Oblivion, BF2, FEAR and all that kind of games run much better. So I think we are now in a time that 2 GB is really utilised.
