Well my suggestion is if you only have 1gb of RAM now and play BF2142 sure upgrading to 1.5gb will help with the stuttering, but for the full benefit you should upgrade to 2gb.

what kind of x1600 do you have?

its just that the high texture settings usually are very high resolution, so 256 megs of video ram is going to help a lot with that part.

high settings for shadows and the like are pretty intensive in many respects. long story short, more ram might help.

yeah. if you are using like 400 megs of system memory, go ahead and get 2 gigs of ram.

oh by the way, how many slots do you have available for ram?

It is almost certain that you will have two slots for the memory. If you currently have 1 GB, then its probable that you have two 512 MB modules installed. For you to upgrade to 2 GB, then you will have to take both of the RAM modules and then replace each with 1 GB modules. First upgrade to 1.512 GB, by taking out just one module and see if the lagging in the game goes away. If it does, the you can leave it like that.

if it doesn't, then you always have the option of adding the second 1 GB module. Its likely that yu will have to upgrade to 2 GB, because Battlefield 2142 is a very RAM intensive program, and the more you feed it, the more it will use, and the better the gameplay will be.

OK Thx al Ill try 1.5gb my system is on xp and uses 250mb just in idle so it has round 700-750mb to work with so upgrading will give me like 1.2-1.25gb and i think this should be enough.
