I found that once you have the game installed in the Steam folder[C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common] you can transfer the whole folder to another computer so you dont have to reinstall with disks or downloading. I also D/L the .ncf files to the steamapps folder. Restart Steam and the game should work. Hopefully this helps someone to save time if installing on multiple machines. Its wicked fat to transfer with a USB 3 or Esata external drive.

22 GB is an insanely amount of data to download. -
Steam has built-in game backup. Just backup the copy of Rage and copy that to a new computer and install it, it will automatically be added to Steam (if you have it bought on there of course).

Also if you don't want to use MP for whatever reason, delete the MP folder from the game folder. It shrinks the game to 12gb, useful if you're on the go with no connection.
