If you are running a nvidia geforce 230m and have it overclocked, post what speeds/results and/or temps that you have. I awaiting the delivery of my dv8t and am interested on how far i can clock this thing![]()

You may have better luck in the HP forum. Any temperatures you get from a non-HP system aren't going to apply to you. Since the 240M is basically an OC'd 230M, I would start by over-clocking to the 240M specs (550/1210 compared to the 230M's 500/1100).
Good luck, let us know how it goes -
warning... hp notebooks run hot so before overclocking do all of this.
1. Get a notebook cooling pad
2. Undervolt your CPU.
3. Clean vents often with compressed air.
now the OC part. Use NVDIA System tools to OC... its easy to do. OC your core and shader in a ratio of 1:2.5 ( ex core 600MHz , Shader 1500MHz. )
Don't OC memory too much.. 100 MHz at most but if you want to be safe like me , OC only 50 MHz... you don't want a burnt card in the end do u... -

My 230m core idles at 30c , highest 60c when playing BF2, never tried overclocking it though.

safer to do so and highly recommended... do your homework dude...

I agree, ratio is not necessary. Take a look at the default 240M clocks I posted, it's at 1:2.2 from the factory. I will agree that most usually have a ratio between 1:2-2.5, but IMHO just go with what's stable for the card.

try this for now, this is what im using on a 230m gt gpu
600mhz core
790mhz ram (stock)
1300mhz shader
this gives me almost 19000 3dmark03 scores
also it gives me almost 7000 3dmark06 scores
all games run on high accept crysis at all med settings at native res of 1366x768 on a toshiba A505-6986
using intel t6600 processor at 2.2ghz and ddr3 ram at 800mhz with 666-18 timings
gpu idles from 45-48c in windows 7 64 bit aero desktop and gets as hot as 65-70c max for hours
going to upgrade processor one of these days to a p9800 intel and things should improve! -
u mean P9700 but get a T9600 or P9600... they seem to offer best price and performance..
-
A T9800 and T9900 are merely T9600's with a little higher clocks, and a much higher price.
I've OCed my GT 230M to 650/1430/1040. Gave me a 30% increase in fillrates and a 31.6% increase in bandwidth. GPU temp maxes out around 60c and no errors.
EDIT: Changed to reflect my highest stable OC. 10Mhz more core or memory show's errors in the OCCT GPU test.
230m OC speeds?
