Oblivion - Yes except for some shadow effects
    UT3 - medium w/ some highs
    Crysis - TBD

-oh, and this should be in the "can my notebook run it" thread.

not sure about crysis and oblivion, but he should be able to play ut2003 at high settings...cuz the beta that i have runs 1280*800 at all hi, no aa or af...i think, u should be able to play crysis at least on medium...as i can run the beta 1280*800 all medium - very playable...

Oblivon won will do high or max (it depends on how much FPS you want, some people don't play under 60 so they need dual 8800ULTRA and a E6850 CPU).

    I max U3 at 1680x1050

I'd be amazed if those settings run stock with consistent 30+ FPS for UT3.

not consistent 30+, but around 25, i'd say...why would that be considered so amazing? i'm not hardcore about my games anymore and consider this one very playable at those frame rates.

Remember that the UT3 demo does not include maximum settings, what you're really playing with is most likely going to be medium in the final release.

Not a dig, but what do you mean by high settings? I'm assuming you mean UT3 (not 2003, which believe it or not is quite old now :p ) and in the demo beta all I have is the resolution, post processing and texture/world detail which really mean anything (no option for AA or AF from what I can see unless I'm missing something).

Using 1200x800 with textures/world on 2 out of 5, the game is playable with the exception of the map with the Darkwalker, which is a little choppy. I can't imagine anyone running it with native res and textures/world details set to over 3...

Or is there something wrong with my setup? (on vista, DDR2 8600GT, 2 gig ram, 2.0Ghz C2D)

Make sure you have the latest drivers and that your Nvidia Utility isn't forcing anti-aliasing or anything else unwanted. It may be a RAM issue. I'm not an expert on it but i believe the 8600GT pulls 256 ram away from system memory to tally 512. With Vista hogging close to another gig (not sure, I've got XP) the allocated memory for your processor can be used up quickly.

You should be able to run it at 3 for both (max for textures for demo is 3 anyway, just says it goes up to 5) With 30-33+ FPS consistently.

I've had a quick ganders at the thread now. Changed my drivers to the 167.29 ones and everything's pretty much silky smooth at native res with 4/4 for texture/world details. Haven't tried upping them further yet :)

So I take back what I said! The UT3 engine is flippin' amazing!

EDIT: Didn't realise they were capped at 3, so I'll just up the post processing then...

i'm running oblivion on almost highest fairly well with that card. hopefully crysis will run on medium. UT3 could probably do the lower end of high nor high end of medium

I don't believe World Detail is capped, just texture detail. I think they did it for the sake of download size. World detail has to do with the detail as it pertains to the geometry of the objects the textures are being laid down on.

I get playable framerates in VCTF in the UT3 demo, at 1440x900, all max details (2xaf but no aa) (playable being not hugely visibly laggy).

Also 30ish with similar settings (but low shadows, rooms with directional lighting are like slideshows on high shadows) in rainbow six vegas.
