A dell xps m1210, if you're not familiar with this notebook here is a link.

Is it possible for this computer to run Oblivion smoothly with graphics that still look quite well (on the high end)? I've read the video card (256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 with TurboCache) is definetly not the greatest but low-medium performance.
Tech Specs of m1210:
-Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T7600 (2.33GHz, 4M L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB)
-2GB RAM
-100GB(7200RPM)
-24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
I do like the small size of the notebook instead of one that has better performance but a lot bigger. Also, is there a chance of upgrading the card or is it not worth it? Thank you for your time.

My understanding is it can run at med settings if the res is dropped below native(i think 800x600) and grass is disabled. Course if you have not bought the laptop yet, it would be best for you to wait. Its rumored the 1210 will be getting a go8400 when its updated to santa rosa.... along with a slimmer case, and LED LCD screen. I am pretty skeptical though(Esp. about the LED backlight)

Oh, has it been said when these changes will take place?

Rumoured 26th of June I think.

Have a link to that info? I'd be interested to see it. Dell has yet to come out with any consumer-level Santa Rosa notebooks and they need to soon in order to stay competitive. Right now their only saving grace is low prices.
The Go7400 struggles to run Oblivion but it definitely can play it at low-medium settings. -
Oh do tell us, nbaumann!

Setting arent worth changing in oblivion aside from view distance, crank up the graphics to maximim and lower the resolution to about 800x600 or 640x420, but whatever you do, do not lower the textures, you don't need to as it has almost zero FPS increase in most games.

why do the screenies look so grainy? did u lower the mipmap detail in ur driver settings or something?

The new 8400, how much better will that make gaming compared to the 7400?
-
That is what I wonder as well. Outside of DX10, what is the 8400 going to give someone over the 7400. Because if all it is offering is DX10, then I don't feel it is worth it.

I was wondering too how powerfull the 8400m would be considering my go 6600 outperforms the go7400 by a decent margin.
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 TurboCache + Oblivion = ?!?!
