so that card is a workstation equalivent of the 7900gs i think, I just do gaming so how will it perform, can i flash it in to the 7900 gs? will it be hard to find good graphics drivers? how does it compare to the 8600m gt? its a precision m90, im asking cus i am offered a great deal, however the harddrive is a "60 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400 RPM)", will i be able to exchange a 120gb sata hd on my vostro 1500? thanks![]()

Fx1500M = Geforce Go 7900GS. =Good performance. You just need the appropriate drivers.
-
Itll Perform the same. The 8600 is not that much of an upgrade from the 7900GS
-
Its still a powerful card for gaming.
Its pretty much equivalent to a 8600M GT in overall performance... although it can handle higher resolutions better... with the 256-bit mem interface.
You better be getting a deal better than $700, since a Vostro 1500 with 8600M GT is about $700 now.
And yes you should change the ATA/IDE HDD to a larger one if you are to get it. -
thanks for the fast respond, will i be able to use the laptopvideo2go drivers? I'll get this if it outperform the 8600m gt (i dont need dx10
), is there any benchmark on games like ut3 & crysis?
-
it wont really outperform the 8600M GT in most tests.
They are comparable.... however the 8600M GT uses less power and produces less heat. -
It won`t beat the 7900 GS,since that is still a 256bit card so at a higher resolution,it will still be better.
But the 8600M GT is a newer card, more proven and has enough potential to play today`s games in moderate resolutions.
Nowhere near what I`d call an upgrade though.
An upgrade would be at least the 8700M GT in terms of performance. -
i still cant find any gaming benchmarks on this card yet
but if i can get both the the 8600m gt & the Quadro FX 1500M at the same price (regardless of the laptop), which one do you guys think is the bang for the buck?
-
8600M GT = better overclocker. And the possibility of getting a physX capable rendering with just a software upgrade.
Just make sure the 8600M GT is DDR3 to have better perfomance! -
256MB NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500M, how does it perform in games?
