Hey All,
Buying a laptop for college. In order to get a free 3 year on-campus warranty I have to buy it through the university bookstore. They only offer Dells. The best they offer for my budget are the Latitude D830 and Precision M65 Dual Core. With the same processor, ram, etc they cost almost the same. However the major differance between them is the graphics cards and seeing as I enjoy my fair share of gaming it's pretty important to me. The D830 has the 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M while the M65 has the NVIDIA® Quadro FX 350M 512MB Turbocache.
At first I was excited to see the 512 but then read the fine print: "The total of local and shared system memory used by this graphics card is up to 512MB. Local memory on the graphics controller is 256MB. Up to 256MB of system memory may be allocated to support graphics, depending on system memory size and application requirements." So its not 512 dedicated memory.
So in short - Which graphics card would be better for gaming.

Since the Quadro FX 350m is based off the 7300go and the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M is based off the 8400m which is somewhere between the NV7400 and NV 7600, i would go for the 140m(D830) and its also a DX10 card.
But Quadro card are not designed for gaming so it might hurt performance.
