I'm down to either the Sager 5320 or Asus Z70va and the video card is probably my biggest hang-up at this point. The Sager has the 256mb and the Asus has the 128mb. So my question is of course does the 256 really make much of a difference? Keep in mind I'll have 2gb of ram. Thanks!

i cant remember why but the 256mb version is better for another reason as well as having more memory
-
The 256MB version will typically have DDR2 RAM as opposed to DDR RAM.
More VRAM is always better! -
Hmm...anyone know for sure if the Asus has the DDR2 or DDR? How much of a difference is THAT?
Don't worry guys, I've been asking a million questions since I came on these forums, but my decision is coming soon! -

The Asus has DDR.
My Sager has a 256MB X700. It does make a difference if you plan on playing the latest games. In FEAR, for example, if you only have 128MB of video memory, it will give you a warning if you try and set the texture quality above medium. On a 256MB card, however, you will get no such warning. Doom 3 and Quake 4, Battlefield 2 will definitely benefit from a 256MB card.
Gaming at higher resolutions uses more memory, you'll be able to play with better performance at those resolutions with 256MB. -
Actually, upon further review, powernotebooks.com is using DDR2 533 for both the Asus and Sager.

That's the main memory. We are talking about video memory.
The Sager uses GDDR2 memory, Asus has DDR1. -
I just went through the same decision. The Z70Va vs. the Sager 5320 and honestly, the deciding factor for me was the 256MB x700 in the Sager. Feature for feature the two were fairly well matched but that one spec tipped the scales in favor of the Sager. My order went through @ powernotebooks.com today and now I just need to wait.

Dude I've been looking at so many numbers the last couple of days I'm about fried.

Chazman has it on the button, because he has one
Get the 256mb version. This x700 128mb one in my Z70Va seems a bit dull. Still runs games great~! I'm just a bit jealous of Chazman and iKovac with their hyped up x700's.
Oh well
Cheers,
Mike
256mb X700 vs. 128mb X700
