How does nvidia 260m compare to ati mobility 4850? primarily in games, like crysis.

I'd say pretty dam good :)

I dont know the 260 but i do know the 4850 is one of the single most powerfull cards out there =).

Hard to say at this point, but I know the Crysis engine favors Nvidia GPUs more than ATI so a GTX260M might outperform an HD4850 in that regard.

Neither of them are good enough for Crysis, not that they are slow, but Crysis is poorly optimized for PC. 260M is slightly faster BTW.

There are mods to optimize Crysis and they actually do provide significant differences in some cases >.>

But yeah, Crysis is very poorly optimized, no matter how good it looks lol :p

Both are pretty close in performance, but just because Nvidia offers more updated mobile drivers, for that reason alone I would favor the 260M.

nvidia has better driver support but it sucks that most of their mobile cards are just rebrands of the 9000 series which were essentially die shrunk rebrands of the 8000 series

ati has horrible driver support but their mobile technology is new and has nothing to do with thw 3xxx cards they had last year.
i kinda favor ati also because of the fact that their presence significantly drove down graphics prices.

in game performance id say almost identical from the posts i see in this forum with maybe the 4850 showing a slightly better 3dmark score.
the guys at the sager forum seemed slightly disappointed by the first series of benchies on the 260. i was too

    ATI FTW!

the nvidia will have the win since it is a optimized game. if crysis isn't optimized for pc then what is it optimized for :p

also ati driver support is picking up we have had 1 update a month for ATI this year its been nice :)
