I appear to be having troubles with the Vsync setting in nearly all my games. Usually I don't bother with the feature but if I'm already at around 45FPS+ then I might as well get rid of the tears.

However, I cannot force vsync on via the in game settings of several games (Dirt 2, Batman and Mirror's Edge) and have had to force it on via the Nvidia control panel - although even that doesn't always work.

Anyone else with the same card having similar issues? My driver version is 187.71 and I'm running Windows 7 64-bit

The problem is that the 285m originally suffered from a HDMI output issue that was resolved via a new driver that Nvidia release only 2 weeks ago to retailers and I don't think has been given a general release. Updating to the newer drivers might screw things up more as they haven't been tested with the 285m in mind due to the fact that the card is so new.

I appreciate the help though although it looks like I may just have to wait for Nvidia's next update (hopefully they're aware of the issue).

That's what I assumed - here's hoping it's equal in terms of performance boost also (that 13% extra on Crysis Warheard and 20% on Left 4 Dead for single GPU rigs looks great).

If you want V-sync, you should only be using D3DOverrider's V-sync + Triple Bufferring. Leave the in-game setting on OFF.

I also have the GTX 285M and have just installed the 186.81 official Nvidia Drivers for testing on my new laptop. Those Drivers are well known to be the best, most stable and best performing Drivers ever released by Nvidia and when I used them with my previous laptop nothing came even remotely close to them.

It will be very interesting to see how these work with the new GTX 285M.

I had powermizer issues with 186.82 but 186.81 is fine and so are the new GTX 285m 187.xx ones.
