All in the title. Which one should I choose? Price is not an issue.

Both are good cards...but If price is truly not an issue...(cause the 580s are a a bit more expensive) then personally I would go with two 580's.....they are slightly faster and I have heard less issues with the sli config in most games than the 6990 crossfires...if that is indeed what you planned on doing.....but honestly either way I think you're gonna be happy!

Both will make you happy and their performance is very similar. I would check which GPU has the best performance in the games you will be playing. Normally I would go with the 6990M because of the price difference unless Nvidia exclusives (PhysX, Optimus, 3D Vision etc.) are needed. How much of a premium will you be paying for the 580M?

I just found out I will pay the same thing for both of them. So I'm going for the 580.

People who had red but went green never looked back. In fact it appears the performance is a bit better than what notebook check says and I trust people on here who owned both. Then there is the PhysX and overall better visual fidelity that they report as well. I receive my replacement system soon and am looking forward to seeing what these 580s can do!

This is so true, after being radeon, then going for nvidia, I came back to the radeons and never looked back :D

But anyways back on topic, the 580ms will be the better purchase.

I went from green(260m, 460m, 570m) to red (6870m, 6990m) and tempted to get back :(. Missed a killer deal a week ago on ebay for a $420 580m. Just wish the new batch of cards come out already!

I maintain a couple of my friends' laptops and desktops. The only problem I see on the AMD side is their drivers. It's starting to change though, 12.1 was the start. I think some AMD users are still mad about the lack of driver support on the 7000 series. On the other hand, nVidia's drivers are also a hit and miss.

I'm primarily an AMD user for both desktops and notebooks however for SLI/crossfire Nvidia is really much much better than AMD (drivers and performance).

but for single cards, unless you need the nvidia specific features then either one would be good (FPS difference would be game dependent)

amd is always the back for the back. if the driver is stable enough. some games favor the green, some favor the red. overall its reciprocating succession.
