Is the amount cpu really that important?
Would a 2x1.66 Ghz cpu be good enough to play games like Halo 2 COD4 etc...? Or do i really need atleast 2x2.0?

What is more important is the GPU. What GPU are you looking at pairing that CPU with?

2x2.0GHz is better than 2x1.66GHz. BUT, without a good GPU, 2x2.0GHz won't do you any more good than 2x1.66GHz will.

I've found that a C2D at 1.66GHz is fast enough. I've played the Crysis demo (badly optimized and fairly taxing on CPU w/ AI, effects, etc on) with my system (specs in sig) at all medium/high settings at 1280x800 (w/ GPU OC) and found that my T5450 (1.66GHz) wasn't even being maxed out, maybe about 80% utilized with nothing disabled in the background. If though, you're a graphical type of guy (photo editing, etc) then you would be good to up the power to a 2.0GHz or better. But for gaming the 2x1.66 should be just fine.
