    Laptop or desktop?

If desktop I would look at the GeForce 280

Then again, you might want to go with the ATI cards, which don't have defective soldering issues, and the like.

Re: Geforce 280s (and any of that line), I don't consider $500-600 to be a decent price for a single card (which will be $200 in 6 months).

At the moment I would certainly go with ATI imagine spending $3000 on an nvidia SLi notebook for it to arrive with screwed GPU's, especially with all the problems nvidia is currently its quite possible that it would happen.

At the moment no they didnt, but even if they are defective Nvidia will not say anyth untill they release sth new(afterall 9800GT is the same card with 8800GTX),i dont believe i will get a defective card bec the 8800GTX(9800GT) proved to be reliable in a short term(1year) in systems with good cooling conditions(e.g 9262,XPS1730).

But what about sli vs crossfire is it supported the same in the new* games?
And are there any proves pointing that 9800GT is 20% faster in performance in games(not 3d marks).
