I just bought a new Acer AS5739G-6132 (2.1 GHz, 4 GB RAM, GeForce GT 130M), and even though several of the reviews for it on NewEgg bragged about running Crysis on high settings, those settings cause my machine to run pretty choppy, even though Crysis' auto-detect sets them to high as well.

Then, I saw a new review on NewEgg complaining that there are no 64-bit video drivers to go along with the 64-bit Vista that ships with the machine. Sure enough -- none on the Acer website and none on the machine.

Would this account for the iffy performance I'm receiving? Acer does have 64-bit XP drivers available. Would installing that OS fix my problem? Are there other tweaks I should be making to my system to get full performance?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

First off your video card is a bit weak for Crysis . Try playing with settings to get the best result . You would probably have to set some things to low and some to mid , a few on high , to play Crysis comfortably .

Installing XP might yield a minor performance increase but not significant . Check www.laptopvideo2go.com for the newest drivers for GT 130M .

I think a combination of a weak GPU + unoptimized drivers ( i assume you have a bad/inappropriate driver installed ) cause this game to run choppy/laggy .

Heres a link for the latest x64 based systems drivers : http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers?dev=&sub=&whql=0&lang=0&orderby=version&dir=desc&os=&os[]=vista64

The people bragging about running Crysis on High were selling you on lies.

Can't. The nVidia website says Acer has some sort of proprietary setup (firmware?) that prevents nVidia from being able to supply a driver.

And when I tried to install the driver from laptopvideo2go.com, it says the installation can't find any compatible drivers. The reviewer on NewEgg said Acer tech support told him the drivers would be available in a month, so maybe that's how long I have to wait.
