I have tried every nVIDIA Driver update and keep going back to 344.75 as it gives me the best performance. I don't know why as I thought driver updates should improve performance but nope......

You got a boost in graphics score in both Firestrike and Cloud Gate. Honestly I wouldn't go by 3dmark unless it's 11, the scores vary way too much. Gaming performance gas been massively improved in 347.88 for a lot of us.

Utilization is much better in the newer drivers from what I've noticed - since 3dmark already did a decent job of utilizing the GPU, the gains aren't really seen there. :)

Run a few tests with 3Dmark11 also for comparison. 3Dmark11 pushing hardware slightly more than 3DMark ..

Synthetic benchmarks are not always representative of in-game performance ;)

Oh, and your results actually show that 347.88 has better performance than 344.75 in 3DMark across the board sooo... yeah, I'm not following the point you're trying to make here.

Driver updates are more or less bug fixes for games

As long as the benchmark results are within the margin of error, I would favour the newer drivers. They're usually updated with performance increases for games, not necessarily benchmarks.

Nothing wrong with sticking to a good driver.
