    Hi,

I am looking for a moderate-gaming laptop with price around $1000, just for playing fps games like half life 2 or bf 2 with moderate performance. I found a couple deals, HP dv6500t w/ 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS and Dell Inspiron E1705 w/ 256MB ATI Radeon X1400 HyperMemory caught my eyes. Which graphic card/laptop is better? Any comment or laptop's recommendation are welcomed. :)

    Thank you,

You probably shouldn't base the decision solely on the graphics card in this case. There isn't that much of a difference between the two cards.

The 8400M GS is, however, better. Just look at the list in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39568

I am not sure but i have read many threads on this and i think if u have a good cpu and 2gb ram or more(for memory hungry vista) you can run at low to medium settings and i think i saw someone have almost high settings and was averaging 30-40 fps......i am not for sure so don't beleive me 100% but i am pretty sure it can?!?!?!?

Yes, the 8400M GS can run those two games just fine. As long as it's a decent CPU and you have the proper RAM, the GPU is the only thing that matters when actively gaming.

    1GB for XP
    2GB for Vista
