I used 3D Mark for the first time yesterday.

After, I found my score I was very surprised that there is no table (on Google+NBR) which can tell me : Ok, if your 3D Mark score is this much you can play these games, and if possible at what detail settings

I have a score of around 4592, but still dont have any idea which games can be played.

Does anybody know existence of such a table?

I am willing to put in the effort to build such a table if need be, by collecting the 3D scores and games played by people on NBR

Yup, I get ur point. But what I wanted is a list of games which will play on that 3D Mark score, since it is a benchmark score and after you reach the score, 2 machines with same score should be able to play similar games.

SO, what I was wondering is that score to game mapping which tells that for this range of 3D Mark score, these games will run on your machine.

What you are referring to is a system Microsoft attempted to implement with their Windows Experience Index.

3DMark is much more about comparing computers than it is about showing which games are playable. It seems silly, I know, but there is no central repository I know of showing the kind of score required to play a game maxed out.

So, do you guys think I can build such a matrix by having 'willing' people fill out a sheet and then compiling the data using sas or something, to arrive at a general understanding that 3D Mark this much will play xyz games??

It would be very difficult and complicated. 1) Everyone participating would have to own a bunch of games...to see "how well" they can run. 2) Since there are alot of games made every year...it's hard to tell which games can be made as "standards". Also, varying games can look great, but take less system requrements (UT engine, looks great, easy to run for the most part).

I would say....most games in a year (apart from crysis) have a general "Requirement" to them.

Break down games/score into years. on a scale from 0-20,000 3D mark's, you can break it into about 10 years of gaming. For every year, pick a good game that was made for the "mark" on that year. Depending on where you fall in score, you will get an appx game (most demanding that you can completely max)...and should be able to max other games that came in around that time.

    Still...its hard to say.

    -03 - Call of Duty
    -04 - Half-Life 2
    -05 - Battlfield 2
    -06 - Oblivion
    -07 - CoD4
    -08 - Crysis

Of course, this list is tentative, and just to get the point across.
Now, you just have to figure out which score dictates which level ;)

Edit: Found some games for the list here
